And because of his involvement during the war against Hydra, he is widely considered the first Avenger.

Also known as Captain America, Rogers spent his entire life as a hero. However, during the events of Avengers: Endgame, he eventually hung his shield up and retired when he decided to stay in the past after traveling back in time to return the Infinity Stones to their original timelines. He ultimately grew to become too old to continue on his career as Captain America.

Armed with his weapons Mjolnir and, later on, Stormbreaker, Thor is a fierce warrior that can be considered the strongest Avenger. He has the powers and physical abilities of a god and is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU. Of course, this is due in large part to the fact that he has been around for over 1,500 years and has capabilities that are augmented by his status as an Asgardian.

As Hawkeye, Clint Barton is a master archer that hardly ever misses. He hardly needs to aim whenever he is shooting, and that makes him quite possibly the greatest marksman in the MCU. Doctor Strange is currently the protector of the New York Sanctum Sanctorum and lost his title as the Sorcerer Supreme to Wong during his five-year absence when he was one of the people who were snapped away by Thanos. And not a lot of people realize this, but he actually is quite smart because he has a master’s degree in electrical engineering.

During the events of Avengers: Endgame, it was revealed that Scott Lang was only in the Quantum Real for five hours, even though five years had passed in the real world.
