Marvel’s Armor Wars Series Starring Don Cheadle Will Be Redeveloped as a Movie

Armor Wars is only one of the numerous MCU projects that are currently in development for Disney+. Armor Wars was first announced in 2020 as a series, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the project will now be redeveloped as a movie. Don Cheadle is still set to reprise the role of James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Iron Man’s best friend known as the War Machine.

Don Cheadle made his MCU debut as Rhodey in Iron Man 2, after Terrence Howard, who played the role in the original Iron Man movie left the franchise. Cheadle reprised the role in Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, post-credit scene of Captain Marvel, and Avengers: Endgame. He also appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series, and he’s set to return in the upcoming Secret Invasion series next year. Cheadle is certainly one of the bigger MCU veterans, considering how many times he’s been in the supporting role, we’re not against him getting his own project.

Even though Armor Wars was announced almost two years ago, the project wasn’t mentioned at last July’s San Diego Comic-Con when MCU revealed their new release slate. At the recent D23 presentation, not much was said about the project either, but Kevin Feige reminded the fans that the project is still in development, and the new official logo of the then-series has been revealed. According to THR, Yassir Lester, who was hired to write the script for the series, will remain on the project as the movie’s writer.

Armor Wars is currently in development. It’s not known when the movie will be released.
