Marvel’s What If…? – the first MCU animated show debuted last August and it concluded its 9-episode first season last month.

Inspired by the comic book of the same name, What If..? is based on the movies from the first three phases of Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with some key moments changed. The fifth episode of the first season was focused on What if a Zombie Apocalypse happened in MCU. The episode showed us most of our favorite heroes in their Zombie forms, which was both terrifying and exciting to see. So Marvel decided to make another animated show – Marvel Zombies. We could say that the episode served as the backdoor pilot.

In official statements issued by Disney, the second season of What If…? and the spin-off Marvel Zombies were confirmed.

What If…? – the second season of the fan-favorite animated series. After enlisting the Guardians of the Multiverse to stop Infinity Ultron, The Watcher returns in Season 2 of “What If…?” to meet new heroes and explore more strange new worlds in the MCU’s ever-expanding Multiverse. Directed by executive producer Bryan Andrews with executive producer AC Bradley serving as head writer.

Marvel Zombies – an animated series from Marvel Studios that reimagines the Marvel Universe as a new generation of heroes battle against an ever-spreading zombie scourge. Directed by executive producer Bryan Andrews.

It was confirmed that one of the What If…? episodes in Season 2 will focus on the Black Widow movie. Just like the first season, the second season will also consist of 9 episodes. Coming soon to Disney+.
