MCU Concept Art Unveils Hemsworth’s Unseen ‘Love and Thunder’ Suit That Outshines the Final Version
Thor: Love and Thunder often ranks among the most disliked MCU movies, largely due to its uneven tone that unsuccessfully mixed comedy with serious themes.
Fans felt that the humor, which worked well in Thor: Ragnarok, was overdone in Love and Thunder, crossing into cringeworthy territory.
Storytelling and character development weren’t the only aspects that drew criticism for Thor: Love and Thunder. While the film maintained the vibrant, colorful visual style established in Thor: Ragnarok, many felt it went overboard. With its bold colors, neon lighting, and retro 1980s-inspired aesthetic, the movie aimed to evoke a sense of fun, but this often clashed with the more serious themes, creating a divisive “Technicolor lunacy” that some praised and others disliked.
Recent concept art reveals that Thor almost had a different suit, featuring a more serious color palette inspired by “Viking armors”—though with a distinctly RPG-like twist. Concept artist Aleksi Briclot shared on Instagram his vision for the suit, which was designed to give Chris Hemsworth a more “casual” look, moving away from the epic, colorful armor. The goal was to convey a “zen” vibe and reflect Thor’s evolution by transitioning from the dark armor of Avengers: Endgame to a lighter, white look, symbolizing a new chapter in his journey. The design also took cues from the scaled torso of Captain America’s suit.
Fans noted that this version of Thor’s suit looks far superior to what appeared in the final film.
