Momoshiki vs. Madara: Who Would Win and Why?
While Naruto and Boruto are part of the same narrative universe, the two worlds are – in a lot of ways – vastly different. Still, it is interesting to see what would happen if the two worlds clashed and that is exactly what we are going to do in this article. The two characters we are going to compare today are Momoshiki from Boruto and Madara Uchiha from Naruto to determine which antagonist from Masashi Kishimoto’s franchise is the stronger one.
Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki is one of the more powerful members of the Ōtsutsuki Clan, but he is no match for Madara Uchiha. Madara Uchiha is simply on a higher level and while they do have somewhat similar powers and abilities, Madara has proven himself to be a much more skilled shinobi than Momoshiki, which is why he wins this one.
Now that you have the short version of the answer, the rest of the article is going to be divided into three sections, with the first two introducing the characters, their powers, and their abilities. In the end, we’re going to give our final verdict and explanation on why Madara would ultimately be able to defeat Momoshiki in a direct fight.
Chakra and Physical Prowess
Like the other Ōtsutsuki, Momoshiki was gifted with extremely powerful chakra. He could also absorb any technique he encountered, as well as an opponent’s chakra. Momoshiki possessed tremendous strength, able to send Naruto crashing through a wall with a single blow. He could also act quickly to avoid enemy attacks. After absorbing Kinshiki’s power, Momoshiki could fight both Naruto and Sasuke in hand-to-hand combat at the same time.
Madara was born with a very strong Chakra even by the standards of the Uchiha Clan members. This is because he was one of Indra Ōtsutsuki’s Transmigrants, inheriting the powerful Chakra from him.
His reserves were so immense, that he could fight non-stop for a full twenty-four hours, even this lasted until his old age, where after awakening the Rinnegan, he had enough Chakra to summon Gedo Mazo from the Moon after breaking the seal that contained it. His great control over chakra allowed him to use complicated and chakra-intensive jutsu using a single hand seal, as well as absorb and quickly adapt to senjutsu.
This is the only category where we couldn’t really decide on the winner, since it is extremely difficult to measure the exact chakra levels of characters from Naruto and Boruto. Momoshiki and Madara have exceptionally high levels of chakra and we couldn’t really determine the victor, so we’ve decided to split the points here.
Points: Momoshiki 1, Madara 1
Dōjutsu
Momoshiki possesses the Byakugan in each eye, granting him 360° vision (except for a blind spot at the first thoracic vertebra), X-ray vision, and the ability to perceive the Chakra Circulatory System. Through her, he could see Kurama’s chakra which was sealed within Naruto. His Byakugan is also used to glimpse a person’s future.
Momoshiki wielded a pair of Rinnegans located in the palms of his hands, which he could use to absorb ninjutsu with the right one and use mentioned techniques with the left one. Also with his right Rinnegan, he could turn a target into pills, which when ingested, would grant him youth and their chakra, cause his muscle tissue to grow, and could transform his entire body in the event he consumed Kinshiki’s chakra.
Madara Uchiha skillfully masters his Sharingan pushing it to an incredible level of perfection. He first awakened there during an altercation between his family and that of Hashirama Senju. He can, with this one, use genjutsu of a level ten times higher than those of Itachi and stop dead an enemy in his tracks (as we can see in chapter 561) and he masters of course all the abilities and skills that the Sharingan provides to its user, on a level far beyond that of Itachi or even Sasuke.
Madara pushed his Sharingan to a high level while being very young which allowed him to lead the Uchiha clan with his younger brother. His new eyes were so powerful that they allowed him to fight many duels against Hashirama Senju, which forged his legend. Like all Kaleidoscope users, Madara masters the Susanō. His Susanô is very powerful, he has a great sword of incredible strength which allowed him to defeat many shinobi.
Shortly before his death, he pushed his Sharingan to its peak by implanting cells from the First Hokage in his body, thus creating the ultimate evolution of the Sharingan: the “Rinnegan”. From then on, he has the six powers of Rikudô, his techniques as well as all the skills and advantages related to the Rinnegan, which are of a completely different level than those of Nagato.
This is the first category where Madara’s technical skills come to the forefront. Madara Uchiha is enormously skilled and his mastery of the different Dōjutsu techniques puts him a level above Momoshiki, even though Momoshiki is a truly powerful Dōjutsu user. This is why this point, obviously, goes to Madara Uchiha.
Points: Momoshiki 1, Madara 2
Ninjutsu
At the cost of the large amount of chakra gained from eating the pills, Momoshiki was able to use space-time ninjutsu, which allowed him and Kinshiki to travel between dimensions. He gained access to Kinshiki’s ability to form red glowing weapons after absorbing it. He also had some knowledge of fuinjutsu, as seen during his attempts to extract Kurama from Naruto.
Momoshiki could control his hair, using it to bind and strangle his opponent, and their speed was enough to bypass Gaara’s Sand Shield defenses. With his Rinnegan, Momoshiki could easily use all five nature transformations by absorbing the elemental chakra from his enemies’ techniques.
He was able to create huge elemental monsters such as a demonic fire pheasant, dogs, and a golem, which was able to fight Kurama while wearing the Susanoo armor. Momoshiki’s Fire Release was strong enough to overcome Sasuke’s Susanoo and severely burn him. Momoshiki was also able to use elemental techniques such as Absolute Zero Blizzard and Meteor Shower.
Madara possesses a Katon nature chakra like all members of the Uchiha clan. With the Rinnegan, he now masters all elemental chakra natures. His katon techniques have incredible range and power, Itachi’s supreme fireballs had medium-range and respectable power but Madara’s are on a whole other level. They are more powerful than Sasuke’s.
Thus it took the combination of the entire Fourth Division to counter his Katon techniques with their Suiton techniques. He also had part of Hashirama’s power implanted in him to appropriate the Mokuton techniques. The power of his Mokuton is incredible, with it he has created gigantic roots with lotus flowers at the end, whose scent is deadly to breathe: “the forest of flowering trees”. With this technique alone, he is able to have the advantage against the five Kage combined.
He can also create a mokuton clone which he says is perfect because he is undetectable except by himself thanks to his Sharingan. Madara can summon twenty-five clones of himself and then transform them into humanoid-looking Susanō. A Susanô can easily stand up to five Kage and even surpass them. He can create the wood dragon, this dragon can be the same size as a Biju and when he winds them up, he can cancel their chakra. These Mokuton bending abilities are similar to Hashirama’s.
And the final category also goes to Madara, simply because he is one of the best shinobi to ever have existed. He is exceptionally skilled, his superiority is more than obvious and Momoshiki, despite all of his skills and abilities, couldn’t really do anything against Madara in this category. This is why we simply had to award this final point to Madara.

Momoshiki vs Madara: Who would win?
And now for the most important and interesting section of our article – the analysis. Here, we are going to use what we have found out about these two characters and analyze how all these facts would (or would not) help them in a fight against each other. Let us continue.
This situation was easier than we actually thought it would be. Now, both Momoshiki and Madara seem to be strong and have caused trouble for the protagonists in Naruto and Boruto. Still, when we get into a more detailed analysis of their actions and dealings, it becomes clear how superior Madara is in every aspect.
Sure, their Chakra reserves are similar, but Madara is so technically superior to Momoshiki that it seems like he would beat him with ease. He wouldn’t since Momoshiki is not that weak, but Madara’s technical superiority is absolutely amazing and it is the main reason – as the points suggest – for his ultimate victory in this comparison, as well as generally.
Madara Uchiha is one of the best fighters in the whole franchise and that is also evident when we compare him to Momoshiki, who has proven himself to be a truly formidable foe.
