MORBIUS: Final Trailer Officially Released!
Sony Pictures just released the official final (like ”final” final) trailer for the third movie set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe – Morbius!
Dallas Buyers Club and Suicide Squad star Jared Leto is finally (and hopefully) set to debut as Morbius, the Living Vampire, in the upcoming movie that was initially set to be released in July 2020, and since then it was delayed, uhm, let me check… one, two, three… seven times! But who’s counting?
Check the official final trailer and the official synopsis down below:
“Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but when his experiment goes wrong, he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead.” — Morbius, official synopsis
Morbius was initially supposed to be the second movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (previously known as Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters), but Venom: Let There Be Carnage was released last October as the second movie, so now Morbius will be the third. Sony’s Universe is set to expand even more with upcoming movies Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Dakota Johnson playing the titular roles, respectively.
Jared Leto, an Academy Award-winning actor (for Dallas Buyers Club) is known for playing The Joker in DCEU movies Suicide Squad (2016) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021). While his performance of the Joker was criticized in Suicide Squad, director David Ayer said that Leto actually did a great job in his own cut of the movie, which caused fans to start the #ReleaseTheAyerCut. Leto reprised the role at the end of Snyder’s director’s cut of Justice League, and his performance in that one scene was mostly praised. We’ll see how will he do in that other comic book house now.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa, Morbus is starring Jared Leto as Michael Morbius, a Ph.D. who, in a desperate attempt to cure himself of a rare blood disease, will become subdued to some form of vampirism, turning him into an anti-hero known as Morbius, The Living Vampire. Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson also star. Michael Keaton is also making a big return as Adrian Toomes, also known as the Vulture, main villain from Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Morbius, the third movie officially set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe will hit theaters on April 1, 2022.
