Naruto’s and Hinata’s Wedding: What Episode Was It in and Why Was It Not Shown?
When Masashi Kishimoto started working on Naruto, he probably had no idea that his series would become a franchise that is popular all around the world. The eccentric, yet lovable protagonist, great storylines, a great shinobi world – all of that contributed to the popularity of the franchise and tells us why Naruto is still one of the most popular manga and anime franchises ever. The anime was almost as popular as the manga, despite the fillers and the differences but the fans did not get everything they wanted from the anime and although most people agree that Naruto is, likewise, one of the best anime series, there are still some controversial moments that need explaining. One of such moments is the wedding between protagonist Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata HyÅ«ga which did happen but was never shown in the anime series. Why? Keep reading to find out
The preparation for the wedding was shown in “The Message”, which was episode 501 of Naruto: Shippuden, but the actual wedding was never shown on screen; fragments from the wedding were shown in The Last: Naruto the Movie, but that is all the anime fans got to see. Why? Well, the wedding just wasn’t necessary to complete the story of the anime so the production team opted not to show it in the anime.
Today’s article is going to be all about a very important event in the lives of Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata HyÅ«ga – their wedding. You’re going to find out when the wedding happened and why it was never shown on-screen in the anime. We’re also going to tell you some details about Naruto’s and Hinata’s relationship, so prepare for an interesting read and enjoy yourselves!
When does Naruto confess his love to Hinata?
The relationship between Naruto and Hinata, however obvious it might have been, is quite complex and during the course of both Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden, Naruto is not quite aware of Hinata’s feelings, despite her even confessing her feelings towards him at one point. He himself does love her too, but he never really asks her out nor truly confesses his feelings. So, as far as both Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden are concerned, the essential confession never happened; in fact, Naruto never even asked Hinata out on a date in the anime series. But, how do they end up a married couple, then?
Well, the Naruto franchise also had several feature-length anime movies that complemented the plot of the anime series. One of them, The Last: Naruto the Movie, chronicles the relationship between Naruto and Hinata in the sense that the movie is essentially dedicated to them and their relationship. The movie finally shows how the two of them found each other, how they confessed their mutual feelings for each other and the lead up to their wedding that happened off-screen. The movie is set somewhere after episode 493 of Naruto: Shippuden but before the series finale, still – due to some scenes from the wedding being shown in the movie – we advise you to watch it after you’ve watched all the episodes of the anime series.
When do Naruto and Hinata marry?
After confessing their mutual feelings for each other, Naruto and Hinata finally end up marrying each other at the end of Naruto: Shippuden. This a satisfactory ending to the series and a fitting conclusion to one of the most adored couples in the history of modern anime. The two of them loved each other practically from the start and it was a matter of time when the two of them would end up together. Them marrying each other was a fitting end to both their stories and the whole Naruto series, as it finally gave the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, his well-deserved peace and quiet with the girl he loves. Kishimoto made a great decision with such an ending, as it was a truly emotional and just farewell to the characters and the stories we all loved so much.
What episode does the wedding take place in?
There is much controversy regarding the anime’s treatment of the wedding. The final episode of Naruto: Shippuden, “The Message”, which is episode 500, shows us the preparations for the wedding and we see both Naruto and Hinata in their wedding robes. The episode ends with Naruto taking Hinata’s hand as he is preparing to marry her. Here is the scene:
This scene is also the ending of Naruto: Shippuden and the final episode of the two anime series featuring Naruto Uzumaki as the titular protagonist. If you’re still confused, we’re going to state it clearly – this, the preparation, is all we see of the wedding in the anime series. There is nothing more and especially not a secret episode 501 which is going to show you the wedding itself. Naruto: Shippuden ended with episode 500 in the most fitting way and this is how the producers decided to immortalise the scene and the most important event in Naruto’s private life.
Why was the wedding never shown in the anime?
So, now that we’ve revealed that the wedding was never shown on-screen, we can only ask ourselves – why did it happen like that? We’re fairly certain that most fans would’ve liked to see the wedding between Naruto and Hinata on screen, so why did the producers rob us of this moment? We have seen some scenes from the wedding during the end of The Last: Naruto the Movie, but that was not enough, as you can see for yourselves:
These scenes are certainly not enough, but it’s all we got people. So, why was it like this? Why didn’t such an important moment deserve more? Well, it seems that the producers thought it best to finish the series on a high note and what better to do than to catapult the protagonist into happiness, which is exactly what the producers did. There was really no need for a big ceremony as the ending itself was emotionally powerful enough to tell us everything and satisfy our emotional needs.
And that’s it for today. We hope you had fun reading this and that we helped solve this dilemma for you. See you next time and don’t forget to follow us!
