New Rumors Surface on Doctor Strange’s Potential Role in the Upcoming MCU Projects

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ was released out nearly two years ago, marking the character’s latest appearance in the MCU with some serious consequences. While an alternate version of Strange surfaced in ‘What If…?’ Season 3, it met a tragic end, making it unlikely we’ll encounter this variant in future releases.

Although ‘Doctor Strange 3’ hasn’t been formally confirmed by Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige hinted at ample space in the release schedule for Phase 6 projects during the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. However, recent shifts in the MCU’s direction raise doubts about this. Facing substantial box office setbacks, the MCU seems inclined to stick with proven formulas, leading to rumors of increased emphasis on animated projects and street-level narratives as they navigate the complexities of the Multiverse.

Now, Alex Perez, a well-known insider and leaker, has shared insights into Strange’s character development in the upcoming movies and hinted at potential plot twists.

One of the ideas I had heard regarding Doctor Strange’s role in the Multiverse Saga overall was to have his character struggle with the moralities of what he believes is right and wrong. In most universes, we’ve seen Stephen Strange do something that he believes is right and is ultimately for the greater good, when in reality, it backfires and ends up causing more harm than good.

Not only that, but it paints Strange as the antagonist in these cases. Such is the case with Strange Supreme from What If…?, Defender Strange, Doctor Strange from Earth-838, and Sinister Strange. When presented with the fact that in most universes, Strange’s actions often cause more harm than good, Strange-616 will struggle with the sense of whether what he is doing is right, ultimately coming to terms with the decision that perhaps simply removing himself from the situation and letting someone else handle it is the best course of action.

Of course, it’s all a setup for Strange to step up to the plate and become one of the most important heroes of the Multiverse Saga and I don’t expect them to change much of the story since this is supposed to take place during a couple of projects.

The latest update on a potential solo Doctor Strange project suggests that the third installment will lead directly into future Avengers films. It’s said to follow Strange as he ventures through the Multiverse, potentially positioning him as a significant threat across dimensions. Originally, he was rumored to be a primary adversary of the Council of Kangs. However, with Marvel possibly reducing Kang’s importance following recent events, this aspect may no longer hold true.
