Bond 25, officially known as No Time To Die is Daniel Craig’s latest and the last James Bond movie. The movie was originally set to be released in spring 2020, but then you-know-what happened, and it caused the movie to be delayed several times until it finally managed to hit theaters last October.
Fast & Furious 9, simply known as F9, was also set to be released in spring 2020, but due to the pandemic, it was released last June. Regardless of all the problems, both of these action blockbusters turned out to be a box-office success. True, they would probably earn even more if it wasn’t for the pandemic, both would probably even pass a billion-dollar mark, but now it is what it is.
F9 was released last June, and so far it grossed $721 million worldwide, out of which $548 million (76%) was on the international box office. Although No Time To Die is behind F9 with $708 million worldwide, it grossed $558 (78.8%) internationally, which makes it the highest-grossing movie that was released during the pandemic overseas.
The previous Fast & Furious installment (excluding the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw) – The Fate of The Furious – was released in 2017 and it grossed $1.236 billion worldwide, with more than a billion dollars internationally. Bond 24, officially known as Spectre was released in 2015 and it grossed $880 million worldwide ($680 million internationally).
When we’re talking about the future of these two franchises, the future for The Fast Saga is quite clear. Vin Diesel and director Justin Lin are working on the upcoming Fast 10, which will be the first part of the planned two-part conclusion of the main series. Although the main series will end with an 11th installment, the sequel of the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham is still in development.
