‘Office Romance’ Star Jennifer Lopez Shut Down the NYC Premiere in a Miss Sohee Gown That’s Pure Couture Fantasy
Jennifer Lopez has spent years redefining what a red carpet moment looks like, and her latest appearance ahead of her new Netflix film proves that nobody does it quite like her. With ‘Office Romance’ landing on the streamer this week, J.Lo has been in full promotional mode, and her fashion choices throughout the press tour have been just as talked about as the film itself.
The 56-year-old actress and singer stepped onto the red carpet at Regal Union Square in New York City on June 2 for the film’s New York premiere. As reported by Entertainment Tonight, she arrived in a jewel-encrusted gown that stopped the cameras cold and set the internet buzzing almost immediately.
For the New York event, Lopez wore a strapless nude gown featuring a sculpted sweetheart bodice with a fitted mermaid silhouette that hugged the waist and hips before opening into a sheer, sweeping train. White floral appliqués, green vine embroidery, crystal details, and delicate feather accents climbed across the gown, while the sheer lace base gave it an illusion effect and the sparkling beadwork added that signature J.Lo red carpet shine. The look was a Miss Sohee Spring/Summer 2025 couture gown.
Lopez styled the look with pale purple eyeshadow, an effortlessly undone braid, diamond drop earrings, and a matching bracelet, keeping the accessories refined without competing with the ornate embroidery of the gown. It was precisely the kind of look that only makes sense on her, simultaneously glamorous, romantic, and a little bit daring.
Lopez was joined on the red carpet by co-star Brett Goldstein, who also co-wrote the Netflix rom-com, along with cast members Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Mary Wiseman, Tony Hale, Edward James Olmos, Tony Plana, Michelle Hurd and Michael Waltz, and director Ol Parker. The ensemble turn-out underscored just how much buzz has been building around the project heading into its release.
In the film, Jennifer stars as the CEO of a major company who falls for her newly hired employee, played by Brett Goldstein, with the two soon caught up in a secret love affair. The premise marks a deliberate creative departure. Goldstein, who identified a recurring trope in Lopez’s past rom-coms where her characters tend to be lower-status and aspiring toward something bigger, said he and co-writer Joe Kelly wanted to craft a more grown-up story where Lopez plays the boss and has everything, calling it “a love letter to workaholics.”
Goldstein told People that he and Kelly “started asking ourselves who the best romcom star is, and without hesitation, we both said J.Lo,” adding that they simply wanted to write something worthy of her saying yes. The admiration is clearly mutual. Lopez, speaking on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, described the film as “not the typical JLo rom-com,” warning audiences it is “a little raunchy” and comparing its comedic tone to films like ‘Knocked Up’ and ‘Something About Mary.’
‘Office Romance’ hits Netflix on June 5, and if the red carpet moments are anything to go by, the promotional energy around it is just getting started. If you’ve been keeping tabs on J.Lo’s press tour looks, which moment has been your favourite, and does this Miss Sohee gown top the list?
