The term “ship” in terms of anime is actually a shortened version of the word “relationship” and represents fan-based relationships between the characters in the series. So, if you think that two characters would be great as a couple, you’re “shipping” them together. As far as One Piece ships are concerned, the protagonists are most often talked about in terms of ships, but in this article, we will give you something new and unexpected. Namely, in this article, we will tell you whether Viola and Donquixote Doflamingo are in love and what the exact nature of their relationship is in One Piece.

Although Viola joined Doflamingo’s crew and got close to him, she actually detests him and wants to kill him; when she betrays him, he is not surprised and tries to kill her, but Luffy and Law save her. Viola hated Doflamingo for what he did to her family and people in Dressrosa, so there were never any romantic feelings between them.

The rest of this article will explore the potential relationship between Viola and Donquixote Doflamingo. We will explore their individual personalities in more detail and the nature of their relationship in the world of One Piece. This article won’t contain too many spoilers, but still, be careful how you approach it if you don’t know the whole story.

Doflamingo was a vile sadist

Doflamingo is one of the most complex characters in One Piece. His attitude, extravagant look, and power make him unclassifiable. At first, he seems to have a cheeky and cynical side that drives him to continue having fun and making fun of everything (including the most dramatic situations). Theatrical and talkative, he likes to draw attention to himself and expresses himself in very eloquent language. He often puts himself on stage noticeably, making large gestures or sitting incongruously, such as on the back of a chair, in the middle of a table, or even on top of a pile of corpses.

We quickly notice that he is impulsive and unstable (two points of psychopathy) and also knows how to show great seriousness (especially in the face of the unexpected). We often see him go from one state of mood to another, and his tantrums are formidable. He also likes to express himself in a very sarcastic tone, such as when he brings up his past or makes fun of the blind loyalty of his subordinates.

Except on rare occasions, he is constantly seen grinning or laughing out loud. He totally disregards any form of authority and seems to be treated more or less with respect given his power; as he told his employer in Mary Geoise, he was not in any specific camp and only served the interests of the Government because it amused or excited him.

From this perspective, we will see him abandon or lose interest in what previously amused or tempted him (such as his activities in the slave trade, on the pretext that it is “no longer fashionable”). His rhetoric regarding the One Piece universe, unveiled in Chapter 556, reveals a despicable being, but with precise and insightful reasoning, notably insinuating that the war in Marineford will bring about justice only governed by those who stand above and will precede the New Era he is looking forward to, where only the strongest are supposed to survive.

Viola was a passionate woman, and that is why she hated Doflamingo with a passion

Although she comes across as a passionate and kind person, like most women in Acacia, she can stab a guy if he later betrays her. She also seems to be a charmer who preys on men with her allure, as evidenced by when she asks Sanji to murder someone in her name. Viola exhibits extreme violence as she kicks Sanji in the face, simply leaving him afterward, despite his bleeding and unconsciousness. She consented to join the Donquixote Pirates in exchange for sparing her father’s life, despite being King Riku Dold III’s daughter.

The real Viola is more noble than the Viola she presented to the world; the only king to whom she truly felt loyal was her father. She kept an eye on the fools’ progress even as she was employed by the Donquixote family, all the while keeping Doflamingo in the dark about her intentions. Viola tried to sway her sister to accept Kyros despite her origins before her family was stripped of their crown, exhibiting a softer and more trusting demeanor.

Viola never loved Doflamingo, in fact – she hated him

She was present during the fateful night of Dressrosa, where she will see her father massacre the citizens by Video Den Den Mushi. She’s disappointed, confused, and clueless about what’s happening, but Monet’s arrival quickly stops her thoughts. Viola asks her what she is doing there, and by what right she allows herself to open the doors of the palace when she is only a simple servant, and she replies that she has come to welcome the new royal family. Monet grabs her by the arm, and she begins to panic.

Soldiers arrive, asking if they are indeed Donquixote Doflamingo’s men, and order Monet to let Viola go. Following this, she proposed a pact to Don Quixote Doflamingo, allowing his father to stay alive in exchange for his services to his family. He accepted, interested in his powers. And that’s how Viola entered the service of the Donquixote Family, calling herself Violet.

And while Viola served Doflamingo, seemingly remaining loyal to him the whole time, she hated him and plotted how to get rid of him. At some later point during the Dressrosa Arc, she openly betrayed him and even engaged in a fight with him. Of course, Doflamingo was much stronger than her, and Viola was easily defeated.

Doflamingo never fully trusted Viola, so her betrayal did not surprise him that much. He stated that while he was ready to forgive his crew’s failures, he was not ready to forgive Viola for betraying him. He would then use her beloved niece, Rebecca, to kill her, enjoying the whole process as both of them tried to resist. Law and Luffy eventually saved them, and Viola cried tears of joy when the latter defeated Doflamingo.
