One Piece: What Are Angel Fruits? Nothing, a Figment of Our Imagination! (For Now)
Everyone knows that in the world of One Piece, Devil Fruits are legendary fruits that grant various abilities and special abilities to those who have eaten them, taking, in turn, their ability to swim from that moment. The acquired ability depends on the fruit and its type. But, while the Devil Fruits are a well-known term from the One Piece lore, it might also be possible that the opposite exists in the world of One Piece, and that is a question that the fans have been asking for years now. Angel Fruits – do they exist in One Piece or not? This article will provide you with the answer.
Angel Fruits do not exist in the world of One Piece, at least not yet. It is unknown whether Oda will ever introduce such a thing to the lore, but as far as things stand now – he won’t. The Angel Fruits would be the opposite of the Devil Fruits, probably granting some abilities that the users could utilize to overpower Devil Fruit users, but since it’s just a figment of someone’s imagination, we don’t really have any precise information for you here.
The rest of this article will be dedicated to both the Devil Fruits and the Angel Fruits in One Piece. We will tell you a bit about the former and explain how the latter would function. Since the Angel Fruits, as we have said, do not exist, there isn’t much we can tell you, but we can speculate and hypothesize about them in our article, and that is exactly what we will do here for your pleasure.
Angel Fruits do not exist in One Piece, but if they did, they would probably be the exact opposite of a Devil Fruit
As we have said, Angel Fruits do not exist in the world of One Piece. They are a fan-made concept that doesn’t really exist in the canon, and as far as we know, Oda has no intention of introducing such a thing to the series; nothing in the series has even hinted at the possible existence of such fruits, so we’re just going to treat them as regular fruits in this article, i.e., as normal food.
Now, to tell you what Angel Fruits would be like, we first need to explain the concept behind the Devil Fruits so that you can understand what Angel Fruits would do.
So, the Devil Fruits are special fruits, as we have said, that grant the user various new powers and abilities.
Based on this, they are grouped like this: Zoan fruits grand the user the ability to transform into an animal or a human-animal hybrid; Logia fruits allow the user to transform their body or parts of their body into different types of matter or materials; Paramecia fruits grant the users various types of abilities without any rule, and they cannot be classified into any of the other groups.
These fruits are present worldwide and scattered without proper rule around the known world. Each of them has a unique appearance and can be used by only one person at a time.
Namely, even if two or more people consume the same fruit, only the first one will gain its powers; the other one will experience no change at all. Also, one person can consume only one Devil Fruit and survive; two or more cannot be consumed, and as far as it is known, Blackbeard is the only exception to this rule, but why that has been possible is still not known at this time.
Also, while granting the user some incredible abilities, the Devil Fruit takes away their ability to swim. The powers range from mundane and completely useless to those that can cause mass destruction. It is said that the Devil Fruits are created from human desires and that they embody what humans want, but that is also a theory. When a Devil Fruit user dies, the fruit he had simply regrows somewhere and can be consumed by a new person from that moment on.
Now, this is the story of the Devil Fruits in One Piece. Angel Fruits? Well, they don’t exist, as we have said. An Angel Fruit is a theoretical possibility, but it would simply be a type of Devil Fruit and nothing unique in that aspect.
Why are there no Angel Fruits? Who knows! Eiichiro Oda never addressed such a possibility, and there are absolutely no references to such fruits in the series. Oda is known for giving us a lot of references and clues about the lore, but there have been no references to something called an “Angel Fruit” at any point in the series. This is why we don’t think Oda intends to introduce such a concept, especially not so late in the story, as One Piece is currently in its final saga. (But, don’t ever count anything out with Oda!)
How would these fruits work? Well, we don’t know. A lot of fansites around the Internet have given different interpretations of a potential Angel Fruit, but there is no unified theory as to what these fruits could do, what they would look like, and how powerful they would be. It’s all one big question mark, as the whole concept is a fan-made one, and then you have a fan-made concept; you can alter it and develop it however you want.
Angel Fruits would probably be the opposite of Devil Fruits in that aspect. They probably wouldn’t take away the user’s ability to swim, and they would possibly, even ameliorate their general skills and abilities. As for their powers, they would probably also vary, but it could be that these fruits would give the user an advantage over Devil Fruit users, which means that Angel Fruits would function as a counter-weapon to Devil Fruits. But this is all pure speculation, and we don’t really know much, so this was just a brief overview of some of the possibilities.
