One Piece: What Kind of Devil Fruit Is the Ushi Ushi mo Mi & Who Has It?
We all know how important Devil Fruits are in the world of One Piece. These strange fruits are one of a kind and are, based on their own type, able to grant the one who eats them first some specific powers. Some of these powers are useless, but some are so strong that they give a character a significant power boost. Until Blackbeard acquired two, it had been thought that a person could have only one Devil Fruit. In this article, we will talk about one specific Devil Fruit, the Ushi Ushi mo Mi, as you will find out what it is and who has it.
The Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison
As we have said, the Ushi Ushi no Mi does not exist as a standalone Devil Fruit. Literally, the name can be translated as “Cow Cow Fruit,” “Bull Bull Fruit,” or even “Ox Ox Fruit,” as the word “Ushi” (牛) can signify any of these three animals in Japanese. There are ways to distinguish them, but the general idea is as follows. Since no one turns into a bull, cow, or ox in the series, we have to talk about the two subtypes of these Devil Fruits. The first one is the Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison.
The Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows transformation into a bison or a human-bison hybrid. This Devil Fruit was consumed by Dalton in the series. It is a fruit shaped like a bison head with black skin, characteristic ocher spiral signs, and a green stalk. It also has two white bumps that resemble a pair of horns.
The transformation activated via the Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison gives the user a significant power boost (as he becomes strong as a bison), but also a significant boost in speed, as the user can now move so fact that he can create optical illusions.
Dalton has used this fruit to move faster and in combat. Taking advantage of his incredible speed, he could avoid some bullets and defeat many enemies. He can also use a special technique called the Fiddle Banff, which sees him charge at his opponents at great speed and then slash them with his exceptionally powerful peculiarly-shaped spade.
As far as its weaknesses are concerned, the Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison doesn’t have any specific weaknesses that are known, save for those generally associated with Devil Fruits (e.g., the inability to swim).
The name of this fruit has been translated as the Ox-Ox Fruit, the Ox-Ox Fruit, Bison Model, or the Ox-Ox Fruit, Bison Form, depending on the producers or publishers. And this is all we have to say about this peculiar subtype, which means that we are ready to move forward to the next one.
The Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Giraffe
The second subtype of the Ushi Ushi no Mi is the Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Giraffe, which we will present to you in this article.
The Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Giraffe is also a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to turn into a giraffe or a human-giraffe hybrid. Kaku consumed it. This fruit resembles a group of red-skinned bananas with typical spiral markings and a light green stem. Inside, it is yellow and has the same markings as on the outside.
The transformation guarantees an increase in terms of physical strength and a greater range of action of the techniques performed. At first, both Jabra and Zoro teased him because a giraffe is not considered a dangerous animal, but the jokes stopped when Kaku showed them how lethal he could be in his hybrid form by slicing the Tower of Justice in half. The long neck is vulnerable and can be hit by the enemy. Aside from that, the fruit imparts the typical weaknesses of all Devil Fruits.
The awakening of the fruit allows the user to turn into a hybrid form characterized by dark flames behind its back and a noticeably elastic neck. Kaku can do this, as he has Awakened his Devil Fruit. Kaku uses the powers of this fruit mainly in battle, along with the Rokushiki and his skill as a swordsman.
At first, the assassin did not fully control the transformations since he had just acquired his powers. In a short time, however, he reached a good level of mastery. Kaku also uses his neck to carry out attacks, reducing the weakness it entails. Outside of a battlefield, Kaku used his powers to act as a chute in the streets of San Popula in exchange for money needed for the medical expenses of his colleague Rob Lucci, who was seriously injured after the Enies Lobby incident.
After Kaku returned to Enies Lobby, Spandam provided him and Kalifa with two Devil Fruits with unknown powers for the mission’s success. Although Jabra tries to persuade Kaku not to eat it to prevent the latter from becoming stronger than him, the CP9 agent eats it at Lucci’s encouragement, and that is how he acquires his powers and abilities.
