Oscar Isaac Likely to Return for ‘Spider-Man 4,’ but Not as Moon Knight
It’s been nearly three years since the release of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ and a new trilogy is now on the horizon. The film was confirmed to be in development several months ago, with both Kevin Feige and Tom Holland, its main star, commenting on it.
While we know that Tom Holland and Zendaya will return to their roles, the direction the story will take remains a matter of speculation.
Recently, there’s been speculation that the next Spider-Man story could take one of two directions: a street-level adventure or a multiverse storyline. According to the latest insider reports, the decision has been made to continue the multiversal trend, reigniting rumors of a potential crossover with the Spider-Verse.
There have long been whispers that a live-action Miles Morales will debut in the upcoming film, bringing a host of supporting characters with him. But where does Moon Knight fit into all of this?
The answer is: he doesn’t—at least, not directly. Oscar Isaac, best known in the MCU for his role as Moon Knight in the Disney+ series, may return, but this time as Miguel O’Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099. O’Hara, a key figure in the Spider-Verse films so far, is the Spider-Man of Earth-928 and a member of a society that deals with anomalies, including displaced villains from other universes. He is also focused on preserving “canon events,” a mission that puts him at odds with Miles Morales.
There’s no reason Isaac couldn’t portray Miguel in live action, given that he’s Moon Knight only in the MCU’s Earth-616. Since the Spider-Verse franchise exists in a different reality, Isaac could easily take on a new character, much like how Robert Downey Jr. could theoretically play both Doom and Iron Man in different universes.
Given Spider-Man’s and Doctor Strange’s history of meddling with timelines, it’s entirely possible that Peter Parker of Earth-616 could end up on Miguel O’Hara’s radar as a potential threat, just as Miles Morales did in the latest Spider-Verse installment.
As for Moon Knight, rumors suggest that a second season of the show is still in development. We also know that the character will appear in ‘Marvel Zombies’ and the rumored ‘Midnight Sons’ project.
