Axolotls come in 5 different colors, with the blue being the rarest

axolotls were first announced back in 2020, and after their update was released, players discovered that they come in 5 different colors. What players also noticed is that not all axolotl colors were created equal. Blue axolotl is considered to be the rarest of them all, with a 0.083% chance of spawning. To translate it into breeding rates, there is a 1/1200 chance that your spawned axolotl will be blue.

The blue axolotl is followed by the Gold or Yellow axolotl, which is considered rare. Next up, we have Brown or Copper axolotl, which is considered to be uncommon. Pink and Cyan axolotls are considered to be the most common, and you will most likely run into them first while you’re exploring lush caves.

How to get Blue Axoltol in Minecraft?

The only way to get Blue axolotl in Minecraft is to breed it or put it in simple terms: you need to get lucky. Blue axolotls used to spawn naturally, just like all other colors, but nowadays, the color occurs only while breeding them.

blue

Breeding axolotls of any color can result in blue one spawning; your chances are the highest if you already have two blue axolotls and breed them. In that case, the offspring is sure to be blue since the color is usually inherited from the parents.

Breeding blue axolotl with other colors also results in a relatively rare spawn rate.

What about other axolotl colors?

The color of the baby axolotl is influenced by the colors of both parents. The probabilities of inheriting specific colors depend on the colors of the parent axolotls. So if you want to have a pink axolotl, your best is to breed to pink ones. If you want gold, breed two gold axolotls. Even if you breed one gold axolotl and one pink axolotl, there is a 50% chance to turn out like either color.

You can summon a blue axolotl directly by using the following command: /summon minecraft:axolotl ~ ~ ~ {Variant:4}
