Reports Reveal Link Between The Punisher & Cassandra Nova in Upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
One of the highly anticipated MCU releases is undoubtedly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ This film signifies several significant milestones: it’s Deadpool’s inaugural venture into the MCU and the sole MCU movie set for release in 2024, aiming to rekindle fan enthusiasm following a series of poorly received films in recent years.
The newly unveiled trailer also confirms the return of familiar faces from both the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises.
Recent rumors, along with a synopsis, suggest that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ won’t just harken back to the old Fox ‘X-Men’ era; it’s also poised to revisit pivotal moments from phases 1-4 and include nods to The Punisher.
According to insights from MyTimeToShineHello, The Punisher will be alluded to in the film as someone who confronted Cassandra Nova, returning after a confrontation with her.
Here’s the surprising part: it’s highly likely that the Punisher involved will be Thomas Jane’s portrayal from the 2004 movie. This speculation stems from the recent trailer where The Russian, a character from that film played by Kevin Nash, is depicted working for Cassandra Nova. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ seems to be intricately connecting various Marvel-based movies.
It remains uncertain whether the Punisher will physically appear or merely be referenced in passing. In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ Deadpool is enlisted by the TVA to prevent a reality-altering catastrophe orchestrated by Cassandra Nova. Naturally, Wade will enlist Wolverine’s help to tackle the task at hand.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is slated for release on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five in the MCU.
