Rumor: Small-Time X-Men Villain, Toad, Set to Return in ‘Deadpool 3’
While ‘Deadpool 3’ is still a ways from hitting theaters, it’s keeping fans eagerly awaiting its release with a continuous stream of updates, rumors, and discussions about its storyline. The movie is generating immense excitement for a few key reasons. Firstly, it marks Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine after his on-screen demise in ‘Logan.’ Additionally, it signifies Deadpool’s official debut in the MCU. According to the grapevine, the film is expected to heavily nod to Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchise and its array of villains through the multiverse concept. Rumor has it that Deadpool and Wolverine will be squaring off against some of their adversaries from previous encounters.
Before the MCU even existed, Fox had its own cinematic universe, and it introduced us to some of the most intriguing and eccentric characters in superhero cinema. Among them is Toad.
As per DanielPRK, a reputable Marvel leaker, the lesser-known villain Toad, also known as Mortimer Toynbee, is set to make a triumphant comeback in ‘Deadpool 3.’
Toad posed a significant threat in the ‘X-Men’ movie, and later resurfaced as a minor antagonist in the altered timeline, leaving his future uncertain. What sets Toad apart—and makes him memorable—are his unique abilities. If you’re not acquainted with the character, his name provides a hint about his extraordinary powers. Toad possesses flexible bones, granting him incredible leaping capabilities. He can eject toxic slime and has the ability to crawl on walls.
In the original timeline, it was suggested that Toad, portrayed by Ray Park, met his demise when Storm summoned a lightning bolt to strike his tongue, causing him to fall into the Hudson River. However, Toad made a comeback in ‘Days of Future Past’ in a smaller role, this time portrayed by Evan Jonigkeit.
