Rumor: Upcoming MCU Projects to Showcase an Equal Balance of Evil and Good Kang Variants

Share:

Since the onset of the Multiverse Saga in the MCU, it has been evident that Kang the Conqueror and his variants would emerge as the next main villains. The first season of ‘Loki’ introduced us to He Who Remains, a morally ambiguous version of Kang tasked with maintaining balance in the Sacred Timeline and shielding it from his malevolent variants that once triggered the Multiversal War.

Subsequently, ‘Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania’ provided a glimpse of Kang the Conqueror and the havoc he can unleash across the Multiverse. The post-credit scenes unveiled the existence, in Kang’s own words, of even more malevolent variants seeking to subjugate time itself.

Alex P., a highly reliable source on all things MCU, recently revealed on X that there would be Kang variants representing both good and bad sides of the character, indicating that the upcoming phases will likely showcase an approximately equal number of benevolent and malevolent Kangs.

This aligns somewhat with the comic lore, as not all Kang variants were inherently villainous. While the Council of Kangs embodied pure evil, Kang himself found himself aligned with the Avengers on a couple of occasions in the source material.

This also ties into the recent speculation that Victor Timely, initially anticipated to be a major antagonist in the ongoing season 2 of ‘Loki,’ might not actually be the show’s villain after all.

Given the significant emphasis on the Multiverse, timelines, and multiple realities, this doesn’t come as much of a shock. The upcoming film poised to shed light on these developments is ‘Kang Dynasty,’ the next major crossover expected to feature the new generation of Avengers confronting various Kang variants. While specifics about the plot and cast remain limited, it is confirmed as the first Avengers movie since the 2019 release of ‘Endgame.’ ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’ is scheduled to hit screens in 2026.
