Rumors: Karen’s & Foggy’s Deaths Still To Take Place in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
One of the most highly anticipated projects in the MCU pipeline is ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ The series generated considerable buzz upon its early development announcement, but fans were taken aback when it was revealed that it wouldn’t serve as a direct continuation of the previous ‘Daredevil’ show on Netflix; instead, it was positioned as a soft reboot. Disappointment ensued as fans learned that several episodes would showcase Daredevil without his iconic suit. The show aimed to explore the legal drama genre, delving into Daredevil’s life post-vigilante era as he tried to move beyond his past, mirroring the journey of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin.
The news that Karen and Foggy wouldn’t be returning to the series was a significant blow to fans who had grown attached to these characters and witnessed their pivotal roles in Daredevil’s character development. Subsequently, the studio announced the abandonment of the current show, citing it as “a bit boring,” and opting for a complete shift in direction, aligning more closely with the faithful portrayal of the comic character. While some previously filmed material will be retained, much of the storyline will be reimagined from the ground up.
Recently, it was officially confirmed that both Karen and Foggy would be featured in the upcoming show, marking a significant shift in the storyline. As per the InSneider Newsletter, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson are set to reprise their roles, sparking speculation about how their supposed absence in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ was initially intended to be explained. There were suggestions that their characters were slated to meet their demise sometime between Season 3 of Netflix’s show and the events of ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’
Despite fans’ renewed excitement upon seeing set photos featuring Matt, Karen, and Foggy, rumors have once again surfaced, casting a shadow on the trio’s anticipated return to prominence. Speculations suggest that, despite making appearances in the pilot episode and on set, Karen and Foggy may still be slated to meet their end at some point in the series.
Adding weight to these rumors is the fact that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson are reportedly set to return for only three episodes each. Observant scoopers and leakers on X have pointed out that Foggy and Karen are exclusively featured in the new pilot, leaving room for speculation that their characters might still face a grim fate later in the narrative.
Furthermore, the significance of Karen and Foggy’s deaths was intended to serve as a pivotal moment for Daredevil, shaping his new approach to life and acting as a primary motivator for restructuring both his career and, potentially, temporarily scaling back his vigilante activities. Despite the show undergoing an “overhaul,” it doesn’t necessarily mean a complete abandonment of the existing material, as noted by Jeff Sneider. Since some episodes have already been filmed, they are slated for inclusion, avoiding the need to start the entire project from scratch, a process deemed resource-intensive and time-consuming.
If the deaths of Karen and Foggy were integral to the envisioned “soft reboot,” it’s improbable that the entire narrative arc would be discarded. The upcoming release of the show will likely provide more clarity. In the meantime, enthusiasts can monitor the IMDb page for the show, hoping for additional episodes to be added to gain a better understanding of the evolving storyline.
