Scarlet Witch’s Potential Resurrection For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Could Go Unnoticed by Casual Fans
Scarlet Witch is one of the MCU’s most beloved characters, largely because of her incredibly tragic journey. She began as a somewhat villainous figure, made the right choices, only to lose everyone she cared about, eventually becoming a villain again. Her final act of redemption came in a heartbreaking moment when she sacrificed herself, ending her rampage and destroying every copy of the Darkhold.
As far as we know, Scarlet Witch is currently dead in the MCU. Although rumors have circulated about her getting a standalone movie, the latest buzz suggests that the project may have been quietly shelved by the studio.
Wanda doesn’t necessarily need a solo movie to make her return to the MCU. The next big chance to see her might come in the upcoming miniseries ‘Agatha All Along.’ This series will follow Agatha as she escapes her imprisonment and seeks to reclaim her powers. Along the way, she’ll form a makeshift coven of witches to help her navigate the witches’ road.
Despite the show’s potential, many fans have already decided to skip it, citing their dislike for its musical themes and overall vibe, especially after the announcement that Joe Locke’s character will be gay.
Wondering how Wanda might be connected to the show? Locke’s character is the key. He will be portraying Billy Kaplan, also known as Wiccan in the comics, who happens to be one of Scarlet Witch’s sons.
Having Kaplan in the show is significant, as ‘Agatha All Along’ could lay the groundwork for adapting the ‘Children’s Crusade’ storyline—a long-rumored possibility.
‘The Children’s Crusade’ is a Marvel Comics storyline published in 2010-2011 as a nine-issue miniseries. It primarily features the Young Avengers and the Scarlet Witch.
In ‘The Children’s Crusade,’ the Young Avengers, a team of teenage superheroes, set out to find and confront Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch. Her reality-warping abilities caused a massive catastrophe, with her actions in the ‘Avengers Disassembled’ and ‘House of M’ storylines having far-reaching consequences for the Marvel Universe.
In the upcoming series, Billy might use Agatha or the Witches’ Road, once she reclaims her power, to bring back “his mother.” Agatha may not be as powerful as the Scarlet Witch, but she has enough magic to potentially set off a chain of events that could lead to Wanda’s return.
However, as I mentioned earlier, casual fans might miss these key moments if they choose to skip ‘Agatha All Along’ due to its specific themes. Scarlet Witch could make her comeback in ‘Doomsday,’ leaving a significant portion of the fandom puzzled if they didn’t watch the show.
