Welcome to the Ending Explained for Star Wars: Visions, Season 2, Episode 6, titled “The Spy Dancer.” Star Wars: Visions is an anthology series where Disney contracts some of the best animation studios in the world to create new and exciting stories in the Star Wars Universe. The second season launches to celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th, 2023. This sixth episode of the second season might be one of our favorites so far. It is written and directed by Julien Chheng, and Studio La Cachette animates it.

The episode begins by throwing us into a new planet that is clearly under the control of the Empire. The episode pushes forward the narrative of how the rise of the Empire changed people’s lives throughout the entire galaxy. We first meet a young waitress named Hétis, who is doing some publicity on the streets to attract clients to the club she works for. Most of the people she convinces to go in are Stormtroopers and Imperial officers. As she goes behind the scenes, it is revealed that it is all false.

The entire club and the people working for them are actually rebels doing rebel work. We meet the club’s main attraction and our main character, a woman named Loi’e. She is a dancer, and she is also a spy. She confesses that she is tired and she just wants to move. Her friend Jon tells her that they are still doing great work. Meanwhile, Hétis wants to do more than bring people into the club. Loi’e prepares for her number and tells Hétis she is too young. She is not ready.

Loi’e begins her number, where she dances in the air. Unknown to every member of the audience she comes close to, she attaches trackers to all of them. However, in the middle of a tricky jump, Loi’e sees someone she recognizes. We see a flashback where a young Loi’e is attacked by an old imperial officer, who takes her son. Loi’e gets ready. She believes that the man she sees on the balcony is that man, as he is dressed in the same way and uses the same cane as the man from her flashback. She is mistaken, though.

When she attacks him, we see this is a young man. Loi’e is shocked for a moment before the entire club becomes pure chaos. Soldiers and rebel forces shoot each other. An entire AT-AT battalion prepares to destroy the club while Loi’e fights the young man. Loi’e reveals that this young imperial officer is actually her lost son, who was raised within the Empire. Ultimately, Hetis saves Loi’e from death, and Loi’e sees her son again. She gives him a hologram of him when he was a child. The last we see is the holo projector beeping, meaning it has a tracker attached.
