Superman Finally Throws Down With Lex Luthor’s Warsuit in Jaw-Dropping ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Set Video
The DC Universe has been building toward this moment since David Corenswet first put on the cape in 2025, and the anticipation for James Gunn’s next chapter has only grown louder with every scrap of set intel. ‘Superman’ was the third highest grossing movie of 2025, pulling in more than 354 million dollars and spawning the sequel now shooting in Atlanta. That momentum has turned every leak from the follow up into an event unto itself.
‘Man of Tomorrow’ takes place two years after the first film, with Corenswet confirmed to be wearing a different suit than the one he wore originally. The returning cast includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Aaron Pierre reprising his John Stewart role from ‘Lanterns.’ Lars Eidinger is also set to make his live action debut as Brainiac, the cosmic threat expected to force Superman and Lex Luthor into an uneasy alliance.
That alliance apparently comes only after these two get some fighting out of their systems first. New footage shared by DC Film News shows Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor squaring off against Corenswet’s Superman while wearing his green and purple Warsuit for the first time in live action, with the clash filmed outside a downtown Atlanta theater. The stunt sequence shows the Warsuit being blasted backward through a massive hole in the side of a building, with a stunt double taking the impact shot while Gunn himself was reportedly on set walking Corenswet through the choreography.
Fans had already caught a preview of the armor weeks earlier. One detail that stood out immediately was an ARGUS logo stamped on the suit’s chest, hinting that the government agency may be tied to how Lex acquires the Warsuit this time around rather than building it entirely on his own. Other leaked clips reportedly show Luthor seated in the street in his armor before Superman approaches and unloads on him, suggesting the Man of Steel gets the early upper hand despite his opponent’s new toy.
Gunn has been fairly open about what fuels this dynamic. Speaking earlier in production, the director indicated that ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is shaping up to be just as much a Lex Luthor story as it is a Superman one, and that he personally connects with the character’s envy and resentment toward a hero who arrived and instantly overshadowed him. That framing lines up with the footage, which frames Luthor less as a cackling mastermind and more as a man scrambling to level a playing field he can never truly win.
The internet has, predictably, had jokes ready to go. Several observers have compared the bulky Warsuit design to Buzz Lightyear or Halo’s Master Chief, even as the practical build has impressed fans hoping for a grounded take on the classic Lexosuit. Whether the suit gets a CGI polish before release remains to be seen, but the raw, on set version is already generating exactly the kind of buzz Gunn’s DCU has thrived on.
With production continuing through the summer and a July 2027 release still a year out, there is plenty more to come before Superman and Lex ever settle their differences for good. How do you think this brutal first encounter between the Man of Steel and a fully armored Lex Luthor sets the tone for their eventual team up against Brainiac?
