Matt Reeves’ upcoming movie The Batman is one of the most anticipated movies of 2022. The movie was initially supposed to be a Batman solo movie starring Ben Affleck before Affleck walked out, and Reeves rewrote the film as the new reboot, set outside of DCEU, and starring Robert Pattinson’s as younger Bruce Wayne, who is still at the beginning of his crime-fighting career.
The movie will feature a lot of known characters from the Batman mythos, and one of the most known is probably Selina Kyle/Catwoman, who will be played by Big Little Lies star Zoë Kravitz. Previous reports were saying that the audience at test screenings of the movie praised Kravitz’s performance and her on-screen chemistry with Pattinson.

Apart from Pattinson and Kravitz, The Batman is also starring Paul Dano as Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, also known as Penguin. Farrell is already set to reprise the role in the Penguin spin-off series on HBOMax.
Written by Matt Reeves and Peter Craig, and directed by Reeves, The Batman will follow younger Bruce Wayne who is only in his second year of fighting crime. Reeves said that this will be a grounded version of the character, Batman who needs to fight his inner demons and doesn’t care about his well-being as he vows to protect Gotham at all costs. Reeves said the movie will also focus on Batman’s detective abilities, and we can expect one of the darkest Caped Crusader stories that we ever saw on the big screen.
“During his second year of fighting crime, Batman pursues the Riddler, a serial killer who targets elite Gotham City citizens. He uncovers corruption that connects to his own family during the investigation, and is forced to make new allies to catch the Riddler and bring the corrupt to justice.” — The Batman, official synopsis
The Batman is set to be released on March 4 in theaters, and on April 19 on HBOMax.
