The Batman Producer Wants To Beat Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy
Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy began in 2005 with Batman Begins, which was followed by sequels The Dark Knight in 2008 and The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. To this day, The Dark Knight trilogy is considered one of the best superhero trilogies, and its second installment, The Dark Knight, many fans and critics are still calling the best superhero movie ever made.
Of course, some might disagree, but it’s a fact that The Dark Knight trilogy made a huge impact on the superhero genre and it set the bar pretty high in terms of the general quality of superhero films. Christian Bale played Bruce Wayne/The Dark Knight in all three movies, but most fans still remember Heath Ledger’s absolutely terrific performance as The Joker the most.
One year after the trilogy concluded, DCEU kicked off with Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill, which marked the beginning of the DCEU. In 2014, Ben Affleck was cast as DCEU’s Batman. Although he was generally a good pick for the role, Affleck never managed to film his own solo movie as Batman, so that honor was given to Robert Pattinson, who will play the titular role in Matt Reeves’ reboot that is set to be released in March next year.
The Batman is a highly anticipated film. And although most fans are expecting it eagerly, not many of them think that Matt Reeves could top Nolan’s work. But, Dylan Clark, who’s co-producing the movie with Reeves, thinks this next movie can do just that. Check Clark’s pretty ambitious statement:
“It’s a thing that’s so intense that when you say yes to it, you immediately feel, ‘Oh sh*t, what we have done? How do we do this?’ I’ve said this to Chris Nolan directly: ‘Look, we’re trying to be the best Batman ever made, and we’re going to try to beat you.’” — Dylan Clark for Empire Magazine
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman will be released on March 4, 2022. The movie is starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
