Andrzej Sapkowski launched The Witcher series in 1986 and since then, nine novels and 15 short stories have been published that make up the official printed collection. Of course, the series wasn’t immediately popular but it has since become a pillat of fantasy in the eyes of most fans.

The games helped the most, bringing the series to a wider audience, but there are more derivative works to enjoy, including a series of interesting comic books that have been published. Or are yet to be published.

On April 23, 2025, a new comic book series – The Witcher: The Bear and The Butterfly – is going to begin, and we have the first preview images for the upcoming story.

Written by Simon Spurrier, with art by Stephen Green, the new series will start with a vampire story, after which Geralt will continue on a new adventure, as expected. Here is the synopsis:

Geralt travels to a remote town where a vampire is rumored to be killing the townspeople. The bounty has amassed all manner of monster hunters — and among them is another witcher, from the school of the Bear, a fierce competitor for the reward.
