This Year’s Biggest Anime Hit Just Broke Records on Crunchyroll Sony Confirms

Just a few months after wrapping up its second season, Solo Leveling has hit an amazing milestone. As of March 2025, it became the most-watched anime series ever on Crunchyroll.

This big news came from Sony’s Business Segment Presentation & Fireside Chat 2025 report, which talks about its Japanese music business.

The report, released on June 13, 2025, says Solo Leveling topped Crunchyroll’s view count records by the end of March. That timing matches up with the Season 2 finale, which aired on March 30, 2025.

Solo Leveling’s success doesn’t stop there. Back in late March, the show also became the highest-rated anime on Crunchyroll, with an average rating of 4.9 stars from over 610,000 users.

This is impressive, especially since it’s up against huge titles like Demon Slayer and One Piece, which has been running for almost 30 years. Crunchyroll confirmed in February that Solo Leveling was the most-watched new anime of 2024. The manga’s sales have also soared since Season 2 came out.

Even with all this success, there hasn’t been an official announcement for Season 3 yet. But Mitchel Berger, Head of Theatrical & Distribution at Crunchyroll, reassured fans that Sung Jinwoo’s story will continue.

“We just concluded Season 2, which did really well for us, so I’m sure there will be more content in the future,” Berger said. “We’re not sure exactly when, but it will be here and fans will continue to see the story.” Others involved with the anime have said Season 3 isn’t a question of if, but when. However, fans should not expect Season 3 to drop as soon as Season 2 did after Season 1. Right now, the most likely release is around 2028.

The animated show, based on Chugong’s story, has made a huge impact on pop culture since its Season 1 premiered on January 7, 2024. Solo Leveling was also the most-awarded anime at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including winning Anime of the Year. A new video game called Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive is planned to come out this fall on PC and will apparently be Xbox-exclusive in 2026.
