Thor: Love and Thunder Gets The Release Date on Disney+

Disney+ officially announced today when we will be able to stream the newest MCU flick Thor: Love and Thunder on House of Mouse’s streaming service. Disney announced that the fourth installment of the Thor saga starring Chris Hemsworth will be streaming exclusively on Disney+ on September 8!

According to the official press release, “Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder finds the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – one of self-discovery. But his efforts are interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”

Thor: Love and Thunder will join 15 other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies that are streaming in IMAX Enhanced on Disney+. With IMAX Enhanced, subscribers can enjoy IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio at home, which provides up to 26 percent more picture for an immersive viewing experience.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder was released in theaters on July 8, and the movie received mixed reviews from the critics and the audience. While the visuals and performances were praised, the screenplay and the overdosed humor were subjected to criticism. The movie grossed $737 million worldwide, which is $117 less than its predecessor, Thor: Ragnarok. Still, the movie’s ending promised that we’ll see Thor again in the MCU, although it’s not known in which project.

Additionally, Disney announced that Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder, the documentary about making the movie, will be released on the same day.
