Tokyo Revengers: Akane’s Death Explained – Here Is What Happened to Her!
Akane Inui was Inupi’s older sister and a friend a crush of Hajime Kokonoi in the Tokyo Revengers manga and anime. She was a relatively important secondary character and had a very interesting arc, so it’s no surprise that people are interested in her fate in the manga and the anime. In this article, we are going to reveal what actually happened to Akane Inui, how she died in Tokyo Revengers, and whether there’ll be a chance for her to come back to life at some point. Her death is an important moment in the Tenjiku Arc, so we decided to reveal everything to you now.
Akane died in a fire some time ago
Akane Inui was introduced in a flashback sequence as Inubi’s older sister and Koko’s friend. She was 5-6 years older than them and was introduced as a very kind and caring person whom both Inubi and Koko liked. But Koko liked her differently, as he quickly fell in love with her, which was an important moment in the story.
While the two were fighting much later in the Tenjiku Arc, Inubi mentioned Akane’s name, and the story took us back to the past when Akane was still alive. We see her sleeping in the library she often visits, with Koko approaching and trying to kiss her while she is asleep. She wakes up and rejects Koko’s advances, telling him that she is much older than him and that he does not like her as he thinks. Koko was adamant in explaining to her that he did like her like that and then decided to accompany her back home.
On the way, he once again confessed his emotions, and Akane then decided to believe him, telling him that she would wait for him until he became a bit older, which made the boy happy. But that moment never came.
Soon after, the Inui house was caught in a fire, with Inubi and Akane inside. Koko went inside to try to save Akane from the flames, but when he saved “her,” he realized that he had actually saved Inubi while Akane was still inside. There was no more time to save the girl, so she was severely burned and taken to the hospital. With severe burns, she could potentially be saved, but the treatment cost a total of ¥40,000,000, and Akane’s parents did not have that much money due to their other expenses.
Focused on saving the life of the love of his life, Koko decided to get the money, but since he was still a child, he realized that the only way he could get so much money was by illegal means. He then formed a group of criminals, and they began stealing money, acquiring an incredible ¥100,000,00 quickly. This was more than enough to save Akane, but as he was about to deliver the money, Koko was informed by Inubi that it was too late and that Akane had already died because of the burns. And that is how her tragic story ended.
Who knows about Akane’s death?
Now that we have told you Akane’s story, many fans have asked themselves a relevant question: who knew about Akane’s death in Tokyo Revengers? Why is this even important? Well, Akane’s death did play a major role during the Tenjiku Arc, as it proved to be pivotal in the portrayal of the relationship between Inupi and Koko since Akane was – at the time – the only aspect that still connected the two estranged friends. This is why it is important to explain the impact of Akane’s death on the characters themselves.
So, who knew about Akane’s death? Well, Koko and Inubi both knew about it. Inubi was the one who informed Koko, and since he is Akane’s brother, it makes sense that he knew about the death of his sister. That is only logical. Plus, Koko saved him, so he was in a much better condition than his sister, which is why he was able to monitor her condition and inform Koko of her death when it happened.
Koko did know about her death as well since, as we’ve said, he was informed about it by Inubi. Koko initially wasn’t aware of the deterioration of Akane’s condition, as he was busy stealing money to fund her recovery, so he wasn’t really there, but of course, Inubi would inform him. Sadly for Koko, he had been too late and so invested in collecting the money that he did not really follow up on Akane’s condition, so the news of her death hit him hard.
And that is the gist of it, really. Whether some other characters knew of Akane’s death isn’t even that important; more characters did know, it wasn’t really a secret fact, but the only relevant characters for this story are Inubi and Koko, and we can confirm that both of them really did know about Akane’s death when it happened, which is why her death was so impactful for their shared story.
