We know that Takemichi is the protagonist of Tokyo Revengers and that his whole journey through time had the goal of undoing the wrong that had been done by the gangs, especially the Tokyo Manji Gang. The trigger for this was the death of Hinata and her brother, Naoto, who died as collateral victims of the gang’s activities. And while he was initially successful in saving Naoto, Hinata would die no matter how often he would leap in time. So, will Takemichi ultimately save Hinata before the series ends or not? In this article, we will provide you with an answer to that question.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Hinata Tachibana is a female supporting character in Tokyo Revengers, who is best known as Naoto’s older sister and Takemichi’s former girlfriend. At the beginning of the series, the 26-year-old protagonist learns that the Tokyo Manji Gang killed her and her brother.
  • Wanting to get her back, Takemichi decides to use his time-leaping abilities to go back in time to save her and her brother; while he succeeds in saving Naoto on his first try, he has to go back several times to save Hinata.
  • The final and 20th timeline created by Takemichi finally reveals that Hinata was revived in the peaceful timeline and that she ended up marrying Takemichi.

Hinata is basically the main reason why Tokyo Revengers had so many timelines

Okay, the title of this section might have been an exaggeration, as the final timelines were dedicated to Mikey, but until that point, it was all mostly about Hinata. Namely, if you remember the beginning of the story, we meet Takemichi, who is a 26-year-old freeter who works part-time in a film rental shop.

While watching the news, he learns one day that Hinata Tachibana, his middle school love, was slain by the Tokyo Manji Gang (also known as Toman) during an attack; her younger brother, Naoto, was also killed during that incident. Takemichi is then pushed in front of a train and while he is falling from the tracks, he realizes that he can travel in time to his middle school days by shaking hands with Naoto Tachibana, Hinata’s brother, and thus sets himself the goal of saving the girl by joining the Tokyo Manji Gang and, above all, in the good graces of the commander Manjiro Sano.

Now, when he came back to the altered present the first time, Takemichi managed to save Naoto, who was now working with the police since the past him knew from Takemichi about his abilities, the future version also knew that so when they both realized that his leap did not save Hinata, Naoto encouraged him to go back in time and save Hinata, which is what Takemichi would continue doing in the series.

You must understand that Hinata is an exceptionally important character in the lore of Tokyo Revengers. And while she was not the main trigger regarding Takemichi’s in-universe decisions, she was a major factor in this aspect. But, who is she even?

Hinata Tachibana is Takemichi’s girlfriend. She has a background in martial arts, and she attended those karate classes during her second year of high school. Before the time jump, in the current era, she was involved in a Tokyo Manji fight, dying on the spot with her brother.

Hinata is a very cheerful girl, kind to others and positive. She can make everyone happy just with her presence, since she is a person who radiates good vibes wherever she wants to go. This allows her to make friends very easily. In the new timeline and eleven years having passed, Hina marries Takemichi.

As you can see, she does have a major influence on Takemichi’s life and story, as she was very close to him, and he still had feelings for her. This is why Takemichi tried so hard to get her back. Hinata was, for Takemichi, someone he liked and cherished, someone he cared about a lot, and he was devastated by the fact that she died as a collateral victim of the gang’s activities.

This is why he wanted to save her and do everything he could to bring Hinata back. He was confused and shocked that it did not work the first time, especially since it worked perfectly with Naoto, who was instantly “revived” thanks to Takemichi’s intervention in the timeline. But he cared for Hinata so much that he would not stop. Now that we have explained all of this, we will give you all the details relating to Hinata’s ultimate fate in the series, which is actually the main point of this question; the introduction was necessary so you understand why we’re even doing this in the first place.

Takemichi manages to save Hinata in the end, and the two of them end up getting married

So, the quest to get back Hinata was the main narrative trigger for Takemichi’s ventures into the past, and for the creation of numerous timelines, as with each new timeline, he wanted to stop Hinata from dying. Will he succeed? As a secondary character, Hinata wasn’t all that present, as Takemichi and Mikey were in the forefront; this is similar to Naoto’s role in the story. This is why we will skip the spoilers and go straight to the 20th timeline, which reveals what happened in the future.

So, what happened? The penultimate timeline seemingly fixed it all, but Mikey still existed. In that timeline, Mikey had not been in contact with anyone for 12 years, and Takemichi found out that he had founded a new gang called Bonten. This means that his mission is not over. So, to save his friend, Takemichi wanted to go back again, but Naoto was not his trigger anymore. After he saves Mikey from jumping from a building, he realizes that Mikey is the new trigger, showing how the narrative focus was shifted.

Is Mikey the Main Villain in Tokyo Revengers?

The fact that the two are sent back to 2008 proves that he can still travel through time. So what exactly happened then? The Kanto Manji Gang, Mikey’s new group in 2008, and Rokuhara Tandai, Brahman, are at war now that the Tokyo gang has been disbanded. Takemichi joins Brahman because he has expertise in these kinds of circumstances; out of the blue, he can predict the future. All of this culminates in the infamous “Battle of the Three Deities,” a violent confrontation between the three gangs that cause Mikey’s gang to take over Rokuhara Tandai and the dissolution of Brahman.

After this, Takemichi personally re-established the Tokyo Manji gang, which ultimately led to a final confrontation, ending with the two of them returning to 1998. From then, they decided to completely fix the timeline and create a peaceful world, thus establishing the final timeline in the series, which also reaffirms Hinata’s survival and in which she and Takemichi end up getting married.
