Tom Cruise Did Not Wear a Parachute During the Plane Stunt in 'The Final Reckoning': "It would've been too dangerous."

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning premiered in late May, and the film has since received mostly praise from both fans and critics, as well as earning more than $450.4 million at the global box office.

Many speculate that this might be Tom Cruise’s final outing as agent Ethan Hunt, although this hasn’t been confirmed officially.

Be that as it may, the Hollywood legend once again did most of his stunts by himself, proving that he is one of Hollywood’s most dedicated performers. Recently, he revealed that he did one extremely dangerous stunt with only minimal help.

The scene in question is the airplane scene from the final part of the movie, in which Hunt chases Gabriel and ends up holding onto his plane while in flight. It was a very dangerous stunt and while many assumed that Cruise had a parachute just in case, it turns out that they only used ropes in that scene:

As you can see, Cruise was very clear. The presence of a parachute would have made the filming more dangerous, so they went with a seemingly more dangerous method to actually keep the actor safer.

This goes to show how dedicated Cruise is as a performer and how he is, despite everything, one of Hollywood’s most prominent performers.
