Upcoming DCU Projects: Three New Films Reportedly Set to Enter Production

James Gunn is in the process of creating a brand-new cinematic universe called the DCU, designed to replace Zack Snyder’s troubled DCEU, which has experienced both significant successes and notable failures over the years.

The DCU officially launches with the release of Creature Commandos this December; however, both Peter Safran and Gunn have emphasized that Superman, slated for a 2025 release, is considered the true beginning of the DCU.

Peacemaker season 2 is currently in production, along with Lanterns, a True Detective-style series that will focus on three prominent Green Lanterns: Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Hal Jordan.

It has also been announced that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will begin production in January 2025, with a planned release in 2026. James Gunn recently clarified that just because some projects are listed on a release slate does not guarantee their release.

This is because Gunn is adamant about not starting production without a completed script, and if the script does not meet his standards, the project will not move forward. Fans are now left wondering which projects will go into production after Lanterns and Supergirl.

While the director did provide some insight, his response was ultimately vague.

Recently, Comicodigy, a well-known leaker on X, shared potential rumors about upcoming productions in the DCU. According to the leaker, the projects in question could be The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, or Teen Titans.

The Authority was initially announced as part of Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters, with the team expected to be teased in the upcoming Superman film.

As for The Brave and the Bold, details are scarce, but fans are eager to discover who will portray Batman in the DCU, as the project is set to introduce him alongside Damian Wayne. This movie is being described as the beginning of the Bat Family within the new universe.

The Teen Titans film was confirmed to be in development several months ago, with Supergirl’s Ana Nogueira writing the script. However, this project was not included in the official release slate presented by Gunn and Safran, leaving little information available beyond its development status.
