Variety Reports Red Hulk Will Appear in ‘Thunderbolts*,’ According to Industry Insider He Won’t : “He’s 100% Not In It”
Red Hulk is poised to become a major presence in the MCU. Harrison Ford, who is taking on the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, will debut as the character in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, Anthony Mackie’s first solo film as Captain America.
Ford stepped into the role following the passing of William Hurt. He has already appeared in promotional materials for the movie, showcasing his transformation into the Crimson Giant.
Variety recently reported that Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Red Hulk in the upcoming Thunderbolts* movie, which has surprised and excited fans. However, Daniel Richtman, a usually reliable industry insider, has contradicted this claim, asserting that Red Hulk will not appear in the film at all.
So why is this news significant? While Variety is generally a reputable source, in this case, it seems more plausible to side with Richtman, as Variety appears to have made an error.
The source for Variety’s claims is an old THR article from when Ford’s casting was first announced. At the time, it seemed logical that Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross would play a key role in Thunderbolts, given the team’s name and his connection to it.
However, recent updates reveal that the team in Thunderbolts* will not be named after Ross but rather after Yelena and Natasha’s childhood football team. This change has confused many fans, who still expect Ross to be involved in recruiting the team.
Instead, it looks like the Thunderbolts will be recruited by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine for different reasons. Given the crowded nature of the film, it seems unlikely that Red Hulk will appear.
