Ving Rhames, Star of ‘Mission: Impossible,’ Collapses in Restaurant
Ving Rhames, best known for his role in Mission: Impossible, had a health scare while eating at a restaurant in Los Angeles earlier this week.
According to a report from TMZ, the 66-year-old actor was having a meal with his family on Wednesday when he suddenly collapsed at the table. A person who was there told the outlet that Rhames seemed to drift in and out of consciousness before help arrived.
Emergency services were called, and a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed to TMZ that they responded to a medical call around 1:40 PM involving a man in his 60s. The patient was then taken to a nearby hospital.
At first, there was concern about his condition. But later in the day, an update brought some relief. Rhames’ representative told TMZ that he is doing much better and has already been released from the hospital. “he’s been released from the hospital and is heading home. We’re told he feels fine and was making jokes leaving the hospital.”
Earlier, the same representative had said the situation may have been caused by overheating and that he was being kept for observation. “it’s believed he got ‘overheated’ but will be fine.”
Rhames has been a familiar face for years, especially as Luther Stickell in the Mission: Impossible movies. He also appeared in Pulp Fiction directed by Quentin Tarantino, and in the horror film Jacob’s Ladder.
For now, it looks like the situation ended on a positive note, with the actor recovering and heading back home.
