‘Warhammer’ Fans Rally Against Lore Shake-Up and Female Adeptus Custodes Via Official Survey

The controversy about female Adeptus Custodes in ‘Warhammer 40K’ started when Games Workshop changed the story in their 10th edition of the game. Traditionally, the Adeptus Custodes—elite warriors who protect the Emperor—were described as being genetically male and created through a highly specialized process.
When the new Codex included a female Custodian character, some fans were upset because they felt it went against the established lore. They argued that the addition of female Custodes didn’t fit with how the faction had been described for decades. Others saw it as a positive change that made the game more inclusive and opened up new storytelling possibilities.
This disagreement has led to heated debates in the ‘Warhammer’ community, with some fans organizing to voice their frustration, while others support the change or feel it’s not a big deal. It’s become a focal point for broader discussions and apparently caused an uprising. Not to mention how the company itself tried to gaslight fans claiming that “there have always been female Custodes“
A new survey from Games Workshop has given fans hope that their opinions might be heard and could influence the game’s future.
The survey came to light when X user @ManVsMiniatures shared screenshots of how he answered it. In his post, he said, “This is how I answered the Warhammer survey, I fucked up though. I forgot to say unban the people that were banned on Twitter in April.”
The survey is simple and includes the following questions:
- What is your favorite part of the Warhammer hobby?
- What could we do to make that part of the hobby even better for you?
- How long have you been into Warhammer?
- Which country do you live in?
Warhammer fan @Thor_Odisnon shared the survey in a tweet that quickly went viral among the Warhammer 40K community. In his post, he urged other fans to take action, saying, “Looks like GW is sending out a survey to get fan feedback. Use the link below and make sure to share your thoughts in question #2. Take a page from Derek’s response:
- Tell them to walk back the Femstodes
- Push them to cut out any more instances of Woke/DEI BS
- Ask them to unblock fans they’ve blocked on social media
He also included the survey link so fans could share their opinions directly with Games Workshop. You can find that link here.
The tweet gained a lot of attention, with many Warhammer 40K fans saying they planned to fill out the survey to share their opinions and push for change at Games Workshop, and you, if you care about the franchise should join them.
