Wendell Pierce Discusses Portraying Perry White in the Upcoming ‘Superman’: “You May Know More About it More Than I Do”

James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Superman’ film is currently in production, generating significant excitement among fans for the next chapter in Superman’s live-action adventures. Nearly all of the cast members have been announced, and it was recently revealed that Wendell Pierce will portray Perry White in the upcoming movie.
Perry White is recognized as the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, the newspaper where Clark Kent and Lois Lane are employed. He is commonly portrayed as a seasoned journalist committed to truth-seeking and journalistic integrity. Perry often acts as a mentor and paternal figure to Clark Kent, offering guidance and support in his professional and personal endeavors.
In a recent interview on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’, Wendell talked about the role and confessed that he isn’t very familiar with the character or the Superman lore, and he had a valid explanation for it.
I never grew up reading comics, so I relied on my friends to tell me about it. I’m excited about this, you know.
James Gunn shouldn’t be too concerned, though, as Wendell struggled to remember some of his other notable roles with the phrase “I can remember my lines, I can’t remember my characters“. This isn’t unexpected, given the breadth and depth of his extensive career. What matters most is his enthusiasm; everything else can be learned as they work together. Wendell acknowledged that Seth might be more knowledgeable about the character and the role than he is, as he’s not well-versed in superhero stuff in general.

Additionally, Anthony Carrigan will portray Rex Mason/Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord.
