What Is the Chroma Conclave in the Legend of Vox Machina, and Who Are the Members?

Share:

Season 2 of The Legend of Vox Machina started from where season 1 left off as we saw the arrival of the dragons that marked the end of doom for the city of Emon. Of course, it was during episode 1 of season 2 that we saw just how powerful these dragons were, as nothing that the people could do was able to hurt or even slow them down. These dragons call themselves the Chroma Conclave. So, what is the Chroma Conclave, and who are its members?

The Chroma Conclave is a group of powerful dragons that allied with one another to wipe out the controlling society of Tal’Dorei. As such, the faction was formed so that no one would be able to stand up against the dragons. The Chroma Conclave is composed of Thordak, Raishan, Umbrasyl, Vorugal, and Brimscythe.

Back in season 1, Brimscythe was already a handful for the land of Tal’Dorei as he wiped out the entire army of Emon in one fell swoop. In that regard, an entire faction composed of dragons bigger and stronger than Brimscythe was more than what a city could handle. Now, let’s talk more about the Chroma Conclave and the different dragons that form this unholy alliance.

What Is The Chroma Conclave?

Back in the first season of The Legend of Vox Machina, we saw how the members of Vox Machina earned themselves a place in the city of Emon when they answered the sovereign’s call to defeat a ferocious dragon that wiped out an entire army. This dragon was Brimscythe, who was more than a handful for the armies of Tal’Dorei but was no match for the unorthodox ways of Vox Machina.

Of course, Vox Machina struggled to defeat Brimscythe, who was already incredibly strong compared to the other monsters that this uncanny mercenary group faced. But at the end of season 1 when the members of Vox Machina were being praised for their success in Whitestone, doom arrived on Emon when four large dragons approached. These dragons call themselves the Chroma Conclave.

The Chroma Conclave made quick work of the entire city of Emon as four large dragons that were even larger than Brimscythe laid waste to the armies of the city while destroying monuments and palaces alike. On top of that, nothing that the armies and weapons of Emon could affect these dragons, as even the members of Vox Machina could do nothing to damage or slow down the rampage of the dragons.

These dragons killed the sovereign and ended up taking over the entire city to set an example to Tal’Dorei, as they were clearly planning on plundering and taking over the entire nation. In that regard, the members of Vox Machina had to escape Emon while taking as many refugees as they could to avoid the Chroma Conclave. So, what exactly is the Chroma Conclave?

Shaun Gilmore, the flamboyant owner of a shop full of magical items, was shocked to see dragons working together. That’s because dragons are known to be loners that prefer to work alone. As such, four dragons working together was too much of a threat to the entire nation. And it also meant that there was a good reason why the Chroma Conclave exists.

The truth is that the Chroma Conclave was formed out of convenience for the five dragons that are part of this dragon faction. Raishan, an ancient green dragon that was suffering from a fatal disease, approached the ancient red dragon named Thordak, who was imprisoned in the Elemental Plane of Fire. Thordak claimed that he knew a cure for Raishan’s disease so that he would be released from his prison.

As such, Raishan agreed to release him and conquer Emon together. This paved the way for the formation of the Chroma Conclave, which was Raishan’s idea. That was when they enlisted the help of three other dragons and formed an alliance that allowed them to bring down the entire dragonborn civilization and the government of Tal’Dorei.

After the attack on Emon, Thordak claimed the city as his lair, all while the other dragons attacked the neighboring areas and chased down the members of Vox Machina, who they feared could muster up an army that could challenge the Chroma Conclave.

Who Are The Members Of The Chroma Conclave?

One of the things that we know about the Chroma Conclave is that it is composed of five different dragons of different colors and powers. Now, let’s get to know more about the members of the Chroma Conclave.

1. Thordak

Thordak is the “king” of the Chroma Conclave, as he is often referred to as the leader of the group by the other dragons. He is an ancient red dragon that has the largest wingspan among all of the members of the faction and has a large red crystal on his chest. Thordak, as a red dragon, is associated with the fire element and is capable of flames that are so powerful that he could turn them blue and destroy an entire city.

2. Raishan

Raishan is an ancient green dragon and is actually the one that formed the Chroma Conclave. Often called the Diseased Deceiver, she is capable of spewing poisonous green gas that was responsible for killing the sovereign of Tal’Dorei. However, Raishan suffers from a terminal disease that is eating her up from the inside.

3. Umbrasyl

Umbrasyl is an ancient black dragon that serves Thordak loyally. During the first three episodes, he conquered Westruun and drained the valuables of the residents there. He is capable of spewing acid, which can easily melt and dissolve a person in a matter of seconds.

4. Vorugal

Vorugal is an ancient white dragon that has powers associated with ice. He can release a beam that can freeze things in an instant, as that was what he did during the attack on Emon when he froze people with his beams.

5. Brimscythe

Brimscythe was the first dragon introduced in The Legend of Vox Machina and is actually the smallest and weakest out of all of the dragons of the Chroma Conclave because he isn’t an ancient dragon. Instead, he is an adult blue dragon with powers that are associated with thunder and lightning. Despite being the weakest in the faction, he destroyed the entire Emon army and infiltrated the city disguised as a human being to weaken Emon well enough until the entirety of the Chroma Conclave attacked.

Brimscythe was killed by the members of Vox Machina quite early in the storyline of the series, as it was his death that allowed the group to become renowned all over the realm.
