Who Are Asta's Parents and Who Is He Related To?

Asta is the protagonist of the Black Clover manga and anime. And while we do know a lot about Asta’s adventures and endeavors, we don’t know a lot about his background, as he was introduced as an orphan. So who are Asta’s parents and who he is related to?

Asta’s father was never identified in the Black Clover manga, while his mother was revealed to be Richita, who had to abandon her son to spare his life, due to her life-absorbing ability. As for his other relatives, Yuno is identified as his foster brother, while he also had special relations to Sister Lily Aquaria, who raised them in the church, and Father Orsi Orfai, who found them in front of the church while they were babies.

The rest of this article is going to further elaborate on the answer we have given you. We are going to tell you everything we know about Asta’s parents, but also the rest of his relatives and his family. We’re also going to answer some related questions about Asta’s potential familial relations.

Who Are Asta’s parents?

Asta was initially introduced as an orphan under the care of a church in Hage, after his mother had abandoned him while he was still a child. Later on, we found out that Asta’s mother was actually Richita, but his father was never revealed in the manga. In the following paragraphs, we are going to tell you more detail about this.

Who Is Asta’s Fahter?

As we have said, the identity of Asta’s father remains unknown. There have been a lot of speculations and theories, but none of them have been confirmed as correct, which is why we are not going to deal with them in this section.

Who Is Asta’s Mother?

It was later revealed that Asta’s mother is actually Richita. Richita was forced to live on the outskirts of the village due to her strange condition that caused her to drain magic and life force from others. (This strange condition is present in Henry, a member of the Black Bulls). At the age of 15 she receives the Grimoire of the Five Leaf Clover from Licht, and years later she finds a very tired and injured demon in the forest.

She brings this demon into her home and takes care of him, adopting him as her son and naming him Liebe. The pair live carefree and have a fun life together, until Lucifero discovers that there is a demon living in the physical world and attempts to take over Liebe’s body. When Richita interferes, Lucifero takes control of Liebe’s left arm and runs it through Richita’s chest.

At that moment she has a memory where she left a baby at the entrance of a church and by refusing to leave another child again she manages to expel Lucifero from Liebe’s body. As she dies, she places Liebe inside the five-leaf Clover Grimoire so that she can grow up safe from Lucifero.

Richita uses her magic to store manaless items and creatures within other items, allowing her to carry large amounts of things without worrying about their weight, size, or shape. She typically used small bottles. Richita’s body passively absorbs the magical power and life force of the people and creatures around her, which is why she ultimately abandoned Asta, not wanting to drain his life force with her power.

Richita was a very friendly, cheerful, energetic woman who was not afraid to speak her mind. She did not hesitate to help whoever she needed it, even if she was a demon. She was also someone very brave and protective in daring to confront Lucifero to save Liebe. She seemed to feel remorse for an unknown event from her past, which later turned out to be the abandonment of her child.

Who Is Asta Related To?

In this section, we are going to talk about the other characters Asta is related to. These are not, as we have stated, direct relations, but these people have shaped Asta’s life in such a way that they could be considered as his family (although the only known family member of his is Richita, his mother).

Yuno

Yuno is Asta’s foster brother, best friend and rival. They grew up together in Hage. Both compete for the title of magic emperor. Asta and Yuno have mutual respect and appreciation for each other. When their paths cross, they both comment on each other’s progress and how much stronger they have become. They motivate each other to get better and stronger and always think of each other when things get tough.

Although they make hostile remarks to each other, they never take them seriously and almost always end their conversations by reaffirming their commitment to becoming the Magic Emperor.

Asta sees Yuno as a truly great Magical Knight and someone he must always measure himself against, and speaks highly of Yuno whenever he comes up. Asta feels comfortable fighting alongside Yuno, and the two become a powerful force in battle when they can work together and stand up to the extremely powerful Licht.

Yuno has a calm and emotionless demeanor and speaks only when she really needs to convey her thoughts. The way he talks about him often makes people misunderstand what he means. Despite his separate nature, Yuno harbors a great ambition to be the Wizard King, which he developed while growing up with Asta.

Furthermore, Yuno has such a strong sense of rivalry with him that he will go to any lengths to stop anyone who tries to put Asta in danger. Because she spent most of his childhood living with Asta, Yuno possesses similar traits to his. One is his tenacity and willingness to never give up, which he learned from training alongside Asta in his early days.

In contrast to his current personality, Yuno used to be more of a crybaby that he couldn’t defend himself. He started to change after Asta saved him as he showed his dream and determination.

Nash

Nash is likewise Asta’s foster brother, although not as closely tied to him as Yuno. One day Nash teases Asta after Yuno interrupts Asta’s series of proposals to Sister Lily. While starting a fire to help Recca boil a pot of water, Nash reminds Asta of the differences between him and Yuno. The following March, many of the villagers gather to witness the grimoire acceptance ceremony.

Nash and the others from the orphanage are shocked when Asta does not receive one, but Yuno receives a four-leaf clover. Afterwards, they go back to the church for a feast. Six months later, Yuno and Asta entrust Nash with defending the church as they leave for the Magic Knights entrance exam. A few days later, Asta and Yuno each send a letter back to the church and Nash is surprised to learn that Asta passed the exam.

A few months later, the villagers of Hage are confused after the kingdom is saved from the arrows of judgment and the demon skeleton shines in the light. They watch as a dungeon rises above the skeleton and passes overhead. Then a possessed purple orca attacks the villagers. When the elf attacks Lily, Nash jumps to her feet and the two are saved by the arrival of Yuno and Asta.

After the elf is defeated, Nash runs to Asta and hugs her. Shortly after, the three Magic Knights go on their way and the villagers wave goodbye. A few days later, Nash reads the newspaper article about Asta’s trial. Six months after the elf attack, a demon attacks the Clover Kingdom and Nash and the others watch as Asta protects the kingdom.

The relationship between Nash and Asta is much more informal than anything else. They’re not related, but due to being raised in the same circumstances, they could be considered as foster siblings, like it is the case with Asta and Recca, Aruru, and Hollo. They’re all foster siblings, but the only one Asta has a tight relationship with is Yuno.

Lily Aquaria

Sister Lily helped raise Asta and Yuno at the church in Hage. Asta is deeply in love with Sister Lily and has proposed to her many times over the years, even though she was a member of the church. She rejects him every time and sometimes goes so far as to use her magic to say no.

Lily’s sister read the story of the First Wizard King to Asta as a child, which led Asta to realize his dream of becoming the Wizard King, mainly so that he could help everyone in the church to live better and win the love of Sister Lily.

Orsi Orfai

Father Orsi was the man who found Asta and Yuno on the doorstep of his church as infants. Asta cares deeply for Father Orsi and respects him as his father, but tends to make funny comments about the state of the church, which annoys him. He immediately comes to his aid after Father Orsi was poisoned by magic by the possessed member of the Purple Killer Whales.

Who Is Asta a Descendant Of?

Asta’s heritage remains largely unknown, save for the identity of his mother, Richita. Still, as we don’t know anything about Richita’s family history, we don’t actually know anything about her heritage. There have been theories that Asta is a descendant of Licht or the First Wizard King, but some of them have been refuted, while for the others – there is simply no evidence to confirm these theses.

Is Asta Related to the First Wizard King?

There is an ongoing theory that Asta is actually related to the First Wizard King, Lemiel Silvamillion Clover. There are some similarities between the two and there certainly are indications that there might be something between them, but nothing in the manga or the anime series was produced to actually confirm it. This is why we simply have to state that, as far as we know, Asta is not related to the First Wizard King.

Is AMD Really Asta’s Brother?

Liebe, also known as the Anti Magic Devil, is a very peculiar character and the only known character who was able to be near Richita, as he was immune to her powers. On top of that, he is a low-ranking demon that ran away from his realm. At one point, he was found and taken in by Richita, Asta’s biological mother, who took him in as her son and even sacrificed her life for him. This makes Liebe Asta’s foster brother, but in reality, no – Liebe is not Asta’s brother.
