‘Gen V’ Presented us with many interesting new young supes. What makes these supes different is that they are aware that they are not a god-given gift to humanity but rather a result of an experiment gone wrong, straight from the Compound V test tube. And some supes have more right to be angry at their parents than others, as some didn’t get awesome powers like thermo-nuclear manipulation or blood manipulation. Some are stuck with decelerated aging, like Dusty, whose story was concluded in only two episodes. Let’s see who Dusty is and what happened to him.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Dusty was a Godolkin University Student who organized parties off campus.
  • At one point, Dusty was accused by Jordan Li of drugging them and messing with the group’s mind after they woke up at his house following a wild party.
  • He was accidentally stuck inside Cate’s mind during her episode and was promptly destroyed by the memory of Golden Boy when he found out that Andre and Cate were sleeping together behind his back.

Dusty looks like a 14-year-old boy despite being 28

Dusty debuted in the series in Episode 5, titled ‘Welcome to the Monster Club.’ Following the group’s showdown with Sam at Doctor Cardosa’s house, they were mind-wiped by Cate and woke up the next morning at Dusty’s house, and there was evidence of a wild party everywhere.

At first, the group assumed that their lack of spatial and temporal awareness was due to some drugs. They tracked down the party’s host, Dusty, and Jordan Li accused him of drugging them.

Marie assumed that Dusty was just a kid due to his really young physical appearance when Andre revealed that he was 28 years old, so his main superpower is decelerated aging.

Dusty even commented that his genitals resemble a “hairless caterpillar.” Even though decelerated aging sounds like a bad deal as far as superpowers go, that wasn’t the case. We don’t know Dusty’s aging rate and whether he would at one point reach a point where he ages no longer. Dusty had the potential to be immortal, but sadly, he didn’t have the physiology to match, as he would perish in the next episode. This leads us to the events that transpired during Episode 6, ‘Jumanji.’

What happened to Dusty in Gen V?

At the start of Episode 6, we see Cate falling into a comatose state, something that happens every time she overuses her powers. She collapsed to the floor and started convulsing, her pulse slowing down. Marie managed to stabilize her pulse and via her blood flow, but this wasn’t without consequences.

For some reason, Marie, Andre, and Jordan Li found themselves stuck within Cate’s mind, and for some reason, Dusty was there as well. We don’t know how or why Dusty was transported into Cate’s mind. He commented that “he didn’t even like her as a friend.”

Soon, the group ran into Soldier Boy, or at least Cate’s memory of Soldier Boy. He explained that they are stuck within Cate’s mind and that every explosion that happens is actually a blood vessel of Cate’s bursting, and if something happens to them within Cate’s mind, they are gone from the real world as well.

Before Soldier Boy could reveal more, he was destroyed by a burst blood vessel.

The next memory that the group witnessed was the day that Cate met Golden Boy for the first time. The two of them clicked right away and started flirting during the class, only for Golden Boy to turn around toward Andre and show him that he was aware the whole time that Cate and Andre were sleeping together behind his back.

Golden Boy got pissed and supercharged his powers. The group started fleeing since they didn’t have access to their own powers. As soon as Golden Boy fired up one of his destructive blasts from his eyes, Dusty found himself at the wrong place at the wrong time and was caught in the crossfire. Dusty was blown to pieces by Golden Boy’s explosive sight.

Is Dusty really dead?

Dusty likely isn’t dead in the physical sense of the word since he was never stuck in Cate’s memories physically. His body is still outside functioning. It’s only that his mind is probably gone, destroyed by the memory of Golden Boy. He is likely brain-dead in the outside world and in a vegetative state. It’s unknown whether Dusty’s mind can be recovered from Cate’s own mind. He wasn’t in the room when Cate, Andre, Jordan Li, and Marie woke up, so we can’t really confirm his physical state.
