‘X-Men ’97’ Creator Beau DeMayo Explains the Absence of Deadpool in the Series

Marvel Studios was pleasantly surprised by the success of ‘X-Men ’97’. After a string of disappointments in 2023, the studio was in dire need of a project to reignite confidence in the franchise’s potential amidst a slew of lackluster releases.
Enter ‘X-Men ’97’, a revival of the beloved ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’. Fans were delighted to find that the showrunners successfully maintained the essence of the original while infusing it with fresh and contemporary elements.
The show boasts prominent mutants from the X-Men universe, nods to past animated series, and even includes appearances by some Avengers. Fans have been curious about the absence of Deadpool, a notably popular mutant in recent years, particularly with his upcoming movie release just around the corner.
Beau DeMayo, the writer of ‘X-Men ’97’, disclosed that Deadpool was not included in the series, most likely due to the upcoming movie release. It’s probable that the studio aimed to avoid conflicting products with cinematic releases, particularly given the widespread popularity and acclaim of ‘X-Men ’97’.
Another problem with Deadpool is that he tends to mess up serious stuff whenever he shows up. So, if you want him in the main crew, it could mess with the serious plots.
I guess he could make a short appearance, but fitting him into a serious storyline is tough. It’s not impossible, just really hard.
