X-Men Integration into the MCU Gains Momentum with a Subtle Official Change

In March 2019, Marvel Studios got back the movie rights to X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool after Disney bought Fox for $71.3 billion.
These characters are being planned to join the MCU. In October 2020, the ‘X-Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ movies were renamed as “Marvel Legacy films” on Disney+. Patrick Stewart already came back as an alternate Professor X in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ and Kelsey Grammer returned as Beast in ‘The Marvels.’ ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will introduce Deadpool and Wolverine, played by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, into the MCU.
In the MCU, there are already six mutants confirmed. Kamala Khan, who originally had Inhuman origins in the comics, was retconned into being a mutant. The most recent addition is Beast in the post-credit scenes of ‘The Marvels.’ Additionally, ‘X-Men ’97’ enjoys widespread popularity, although it exists outside the official MCU canon as part of the Marvel Animated Multiverse.
With the buzz around ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ fans predict it won’t be long before the X-Men are fully integrated into the MCU through other projects, possibly leading to their standalone movie announcement.
A recent subtle change suggests this integration is underway. The xmenmovies Instagram page, previously used by 20th Century Fox for all ‘X-Men’ movies, was officially renamed xmenofficial. Fans speculate this could lead to more MCU references and marks the first step towards integrating X-Men into the MCU.
However, we recently discussed some concerning updates about the future of X-Men-related projects.
Fans eagerly anticipate the inclusion of X-Men in significant numbers, especially after the debut of X-Men ’97’. However, according to Alex Perez in a recent Q&A, this might not happen anytime soon. When asked about the debut of the notable team, he mentioned it’s going to be a while.
It will be a while. And anyone expecting mutants (or X-Men) to suddenly come into the MCU after Deadpool & Wolverine will be sorely disappointed.
A few weeks ago, Production Weekly shared that ‘X-Men’ is expected to begin production in late 2025, confirming our previous reports from last month. It’s still quite some time away. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
