Zendaya Reportedly Refuses to Return in Cameo Role in “Spider-Man 4”

“Spider-Man 4” is the upcoming installment in the Spider-Man film series within the MCU. Confirmed to be in development last year, details about the movie are sparse, though it’s expected that Destin Daniel Cretton will direct. Tom Holland and Zendaya are likely to renew their contracts with the studio to reprise their roles.

Following the release of “No Way Home,” fans have been questioning whether it makes sense for Zendaya to return at all.

As you may recall, at the end of “No Way Home,” Doctor Strange’s spell causes everyone, including MJ, to forget Spider-Man’s true identity. Although Peter Parker has the chance to reintroduce himself to MJ, he decides not to, believing that it’s better for his friends if he stays out of their lives.

While Zendaya’s role could potentially be expanded in the upcoming film if the writers choose to, it seems unlikely to include her if she doesn’t remember Peter. Industry insider Alex Perez has recently clarified that Zendaya will not be signing on for a cameo role.

Michael: Following changes to SM4’s story, will MJ’s role in SM4 be significant or just an extended cameo? It would be a dumb move to bench a big actress like Zendaya.

Alex: Zendaya will not sign up for a cameo appearance, I’ll tell you that.

It’s completely understandable for Zendaya to decline a cameo role, given her status as one of Hollywood’s most popular actresses.

Zendaya, who has earned two Emmys and a Golden Globe for her role as Rue Bennett in “Euphoria,” will return for the show’s third season, as confirmed in July 2024. She is expected to focus on “Euphoria” Season 3 and other major projects, rather than a brief cameo.

Additionally, there have been rumors that Sydney Sweeney’s Black Cat will make her debut in the upcoming “Spider-Man” film, which could potentially introduce a superpowered supporting character and a new love interest, possibly replacing MJ.
