There are numerous stories about various types of relationships in One Piece, and this article will be one of those stories, as we will talk about two popular characters from the series and explain the very nature of their relationship. The characters we will discuss are Monkey D. Luffy, the series’ protagonist, and Yamato, Kaido’s daughter, who now identifies herself as a man under the name of Oden. Is Yamato in love with Luffy? Keep reading to find out what the exact nature of their relationship is

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Luffy and Yamato met in Wano Country, and while they were initially on opposite sides (as she is Kaido’s daughter), they became close friends.
  • Even though the two of them are close, they have no romantic feelings.

Yamato’s and Luffy’s personalities actually have a lot in common…

As we usually do in these types of articles, we are actually going to go over the personalities of the characters in question before we continue with our analysis. This is a tradition here on Fiction Horizon, and most ship-related articles are structured like that.

This is how we introduce the characters to you and reveal whether there is even any potential for a ship between the characters in question. And since it works and adds a bit of flavor to each of our articles, we will do that again here.

Luffy is a boy who is always smiling and devoted to his friends. He always defends the wronged, which usually ends in a bigger brawl. He relentlessly strives to fulfill his greatest dream of becoming the new pirate king. The usually naive Luffy shows his more serious side at critical moments. He can then break all boundaries, mainly regarding his body. He tries to be the best captain he can, but his childish tendencies often cause trouble for himself and the crew.

Luffy has a terrible sense of direction and often finds his way around using completely random methods, such as thinking that the north is where it’s the coldest. Even though Luffy is very energetic and looks like a steadfast man who will never give up, after the death of his half-brother, our hero suffers a nervous breakdown, leading to great aggression and desperation because he thinks he has failed to save him. Jinbe helps him control his aggression by reminding him of his friends’ hopes for him.

Another characteristic feature of the Straw Hats’ captain is his incredible appetite and love for all kinds of meat. The boy can eat as much food as several adults. Another thing about Luffy is that he can’t lie. This is also often an embarrassment for his crew, as Luffy sometimes admits to things he shouldn’t admit. In addition to the things mentioned, he, like his grandfather, can fall asleep incredibly fast. According to Straw Hat, the pirate king is the person who has the most freedom.

He also doesn’t want to know anything about One Piece because it would make the adventure boring. Regarding adventures, the Straw Hats’ captain simply loves them. When asked where he goes after arriving on an island, he says that he goes looking for an adventure. Many things distinguish Luffy from others, but the most important thing is probably his unimaginable gullibility. A good example of this is the event from Whiskey Peak, where Luffy fought Zoro by mistake.

As for Yamato, we have to say that while she is a girl, her admiration for Oden is such that she considers herself a man and has the same objectives as the latter, namely, to reopen the borders of the country of Wano. Furthermore, just as the samurai did, she wishes to leave Wano and take to sea with the Straw Hat Pirates. However, she then chooses to visit the nation just as Oden previously did. Precisely because she considers herself a man, she also went to the men’s bathroom.

Yamato is also willing to do everything to achieve her goals, having practically kidnapped Luffy just to be able to talk to him, continuing in her intent after being attacked by the pirate. She proved to be quite courageous, not having hesitated to face Kaido alone even though she knew she couldn’t defeat him, just to buy as much time as possible until Luffy recovered. Similar to her father, she also loves fighting.

As you can see, Yamato and Luffy are quite similar and seem to be a very interesting match-up in their personalities. But, since they’re both brash and more instinctive, they might be too similar for someone’s taste. And while that is not the biggest issue here, the fact that Yamato considers herself a man could be a problem. We will now explain the nature of their relationship so that you can see whether there are any issues here.

Is Yamato interested in Luffy?

Yamato and Luffy had a very interesting relationship, as they were initially enemies but ultimately became great friends. After failing to sail with Ace, Yamato awaited Ace’s brother, Luffy, to arrive in Onigashima. After the meeting, Yamato trusted him to the point of asking him for help in opening the borders of Wano. Once the pirate freed her from her explosive handcuffs, the two decided to team up against Kaido. During the fight with her father, Yamato stated that he wanted to sail with Luffy and her crew once the war ended and that the latter was the man Oden was waiting for. She also had full faith in Straw Hat being able to defeat Kaido.

As you can see, the two of them did become friends, but she was never interested in Luffy in a romantic way.
