The Cruise Adventure Arc of the SPY×FAMILY anime adaptation is slowly approaching its end. It was a great arc full of thrills, suspense, and some great battles. After a shift in the leadership of the Underworld, Olka and Gram Gretcher were targeted by Leonardo Hapoon and had to escape the country. Yor was hired to protect them on the Princess Lorelei, but Loid and Anya were also there, although on a completely unrelated matter. Of course, Yor did not reveal to Loid and Anya the true reason for her being on the ship, and in this article, we are going to analyze and tell you why she did not do that in the first place.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • When Olka and Gram Gretcher were in trouble, they came to the Shopkeeper for help, who assigned Yor, one of his best assassins, to protect them with Matthew. This is how Yor ended on the ship.
  • At the same time, Anya won a raffle and she and Loid were also on that boat at the time. Yor did not reveal the reason for her being on the ship, at least not the real one.
  • Loid does not know that Yor is actually an assassin, so Yor couldn’t tell him the whole truth about her mission.

Loid still doesn’t know about Yor’s true occupation

The Gretcher family has some history in Ostania, and is one of the country’s most notable families. Her father and her family, in general, ran the Underworld in a very honorable way, and she was in charge of smuggling food to the people on the streets of Ostania. Although her family performed a commendable job of leading the Underground, an internal dispute eventually resulted in her father’s and her brothers’ deaths. This finally resulted in the organization’s leadership changing, with Leonard Hapoon assuming control and declaring his intention to eradicate the Gretcher family entirely.

Soon afterward, Olka and her infant son, Gram, were targets of a bounty. Olka had to escape with her son for this reason, but it was difficult because assassins were present everywhere. She made the decision to escape the country on the Princess Lorelei, but she required assistance getting through the journey because she knew Hapoon would attempt to kill her there. The Shopkeeper, a friend of her father’s and the head of the Garden, an elite organization of assassins, was the next person she saw.

RELATED:

Olka knew she could approach him for assistance because he had previously assisted her father, so that’s what she did. The Shopkeeper agreed to the assignment out of gratitude for Olka’s father, even though the Garden didn’t typically undertake it. Olka was also assured of safety during her voyage. The Shopkeeper gave the assignment to Matthew and also summoned Yor, who accepted the assignment. She told Loid and Anya that she had to go aboard the ship and depart, but what she did not know was that Anya had won a raffle and that she and Loid would also be on that same ship.

So, why did Yor keep the mission a secret from Loid? Well, there are two main reasons. The first and most important one is that she never told Loid that she is an Ostanian assassin. Both of them know that there is something hidden in their respective lives, but she never disclosed the truth to him. Since this job was directly related to her work as an assassin, there was little she could do about it, and she simply couldn’t reveal the truth to Loid at this moment.

Revealing the truth would’ve made things even more difficult, and it would also influence her mission, so that is – basically – why she lied and why she couldn’t tell Loid the truth about why she was aboard the Princess Lorelei.

As for the other reason, it is related to her mission. Namely, not only was her mission a secret one, it was also an undercover one, as Olka and Gram were, along with Zeb, given false identities so that they could mingle on the ship relatively normally while Yor protected them. Disclosing the truth to Loid would’ve jeopardized the mission surely, as Yor would also have to take him into account, while the original plan included only her and Matthew.

And this is the story of why Yor lied to Loid about the true nature of her mission on the Princess Lorelei, and it makes perfect sense that it played out like that. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
