Jujutsu Kaisen: Pseudo-Geto (Kenjaku) Does Kill Mahito & Here Is How!
Mahito is a major villain in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and anime. An important member of Pseudo-Geto’s team of villains, Mahito caused trouble for the Jujutsu Sorcerers and is infamously known for causing the death of Nanami, which is why many fans hate him. He later fought Yuji, Nobara, and Aoi Todo, seemingly killing Nobara and almost killing Yuji in the process. But, during the infamous Shibuya Incident, Mahito also seemingly met his demise, but not at the hands of Yuji and Aoi, who were the ones who defeated him, but at the hands of his own ally, Pseudo-Geto. How? Keep reading to find out what happened!
Mahito’s fate was sealed when he lost to Yuji, but he was finished off by someone else entirely
Before we provide you with an answer to the main question, let us first see how Mahito ended up in this situation in the first place. Mahito had killed Nanami and seemingly Nobara too in an effort to break Yuji and make him incapable of fighting any further, but thanks to the intervention of Aoi Todo, Yuji regained his willpower and continued the fight against the powerful cursed spirit.
Yuji soon appears in front of Mahito and unleashes a Black Flash as the fight continues. After taking some damage, Mahito increased his output as well and forced his opponents out of the station. He wanted to isolate Yuji, so created a couple of powerful transfigured humans and had them fight Aoi, but unfortunately for him, Aoi was able to deal with them rather quickly and returned to help his “brother” against Mahito.
Cornered, Mahito decides to use the 0.2-second Domain Expansion, an all-or-nothing move that he learned from Gojo. Though he was able to touch and cut off Aoi’s hand, he was unsuccessful in the end, as Todo managed to use his Boogie Woogie one last time, giving Yuji an advantage. Even after discovering the true nature of his soul, Mahito was unable to prevail; Yuji defeated him and was ready to kill him when a strange occurrence happened.
Namely, moments before Yuji was about to kill him, Pseudo-Geto (Kenjaku) appeared and offered Mahito his help. Realizing what Kenjaku wanted to do, Mahito refused and tried to kill him, but he failed, as Kenjaku proceeded to seemingly absorb him.
Did Kenjaku really absorb Mahito? How?
Before we answer this question, let us first tell you about how Kenjaku was even able to do it since his own technique doesn’t allow for the absorption of cursed spirits.
As we know, Geto’s Innate Technique is known as Cured Spirit Manipulation. One of the most powerful Innate Techniques in the entire series, this one allowed Geto to “collect” curses to use as weapons or tools in the future. Geto was an expert at using it. Curses can be tamed to be used later by compressing them into the form of a little ball or sphere and swallowing them. Not only do these curses have a wide range of applications and varying strengths, but they also cease to evolve once they are ingested.
There is one major requirement for the procedure. Specifically, as long as the cursed spirit is two classes below the jujutsu sorcerer, he can effortlessly absorb it with this method. There weren’t many cursed spirits that Geto, a Special Grade jujutsu sorcerer, could not absorb, and since Kenjaku himself was on the same level, we can only confirm that he was powerful enough to absorb Mahito.
And that is exactly what happened after Mahito was defeated. Broken and weak, he was an easy target for Pseudo-Geto (Kenjaku), who, in Geto’s body, had access to the Cured Spirit Manipulation technique. And that is what he did. He compressed Mahito into an orb, just like Geto did with his curses, and then swallowed the orb, thereby making Mahito part of his inventory, and that is how Mahito’s story ended and how Mahito actually died in the story. And this actually the answer to the principal question from this article.
