Jujutsu Kaisen: What Is Maximum: Uzumaki & How Powerful Is It?
Jujutsu Kaisen has some of the best fights in modern anime. The characters’ powers come to the forefront, and with such great animation, we can only marvel at what Jujutsu Kaisen has to offer. Among the moves seen in the series, many have become standard topics among fans. During the Shibuya Incident, we once again saw a technique used a long time ago in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 by its original owner, Geto, but it was now used by Kenjaku in Geto’s body. The technique in question is a Maximum Technique called Maximum: Uzumaki, and in this article, we are going to tell you all you need to know about it.
Maximum Techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen are powerful but rare
We know that the world of Jujutsu Kaisen is filled with numerous powerful techniques. Alongside Domain Expansion, the most intriguing ones are the Innate Techniques, which come in all shapes and sizes, depending on the users. But, while Innate Techniques themselves are powerful, they are not the maximum a character can use in the series, as they also have another, higher form, which makes them even more powerful. This form is known as the Maximum Technique (sometimes translated as “Spirit Art”), and we are now going to tell you what it is.
Now, the Maximum Technique is the most powerful form of an Innate Technique. It is the highest potential (level of power) that an Innate Technique can have, which makes it exceptionally strong. It is very rare, as mastering it requires a lot of skill and knowledge. Although the Maximum Technique can look different than the basic Innate Technique, it is based on the original technique and is basically an augmentation of it. So far, these techniques have been revealed:
| User | Innate Technique | Maximum Technique |
|---|---|---|
| Suguru Geto (Kenjaku, by proxy) | Cursed Spirit Manipulation | Maximum: Uzumaki |
| Eso | Rot Technique | Maximum: Wing King |
| Jogo | Disaster Flames | Maximum: Meteor |
As you can see, not many characters used their Maximum Technique. It is very much possible that more can use it, but these are the ones we’ve seen use it in the series so far. Let us now analyze Maximum: Uzumaki.
Maximum: Uzumaki is Geto’s Maximum Technique which Kenjaku “stole”
Maximum: Uzumaki is the name of Suguru Geto’s Maximum Technique, which is derived from Geto’s Cursed Spirit Manipulation. By proxy, Kenjaku was also able to use the technique in Shibuya.
The user condenses all the cursed spirits they have assimilated into a mass of cursed energy that takes the form of a swirling entity that levitates behind its creator. The latter then throws this mass of energy at his opponent. This technique is certainly powerful, but it requires sacrificing many curses and, therefore, weakening the original technique. But, this is not the technique’s most powerful form.
Namely, the real strength of Uzumaki only appears when the user uses curses of semi-grad 1 and above; this is where the extraction of the technique occurs, with the user absorbing the own techniques of his curses to use them. After a few minutes of being able to completely assimilate the techniques of the combined curses, the user will be able to retain their techniques without needing to invoke them. However, the latter can only use the powers he has extracted with his Uzumaki once. Assimilated techniques are, therefore, single-use powers.
As you can see, the power of Uzumaki should not be doubted, and we can confirm that it is a powerful and destructive technique.
How did Kusakabe stop Maximum: Uzumaki?
Before we end this article, we are going to answer one additional question, i.e., how was Kusakabe, who had just returned to the battlefield with Panda, able to annul Maximum: Uzumaki. This was due to the New Shadow Style, which Kenjaku himself praised, which allowed Kusakabe to block and destroy Maximum: Uzumaki when it was about to kill the Kyoto students. And that is all there is to it. This is all you need to know about Maximum: Uzumaki in Jujutsu Kaisen.
