Scarlet Witch is undeniably one of the MCU’s most beloved characters. Initially introduced as a villain in the Avengers franchise, she later joined the team but was eventually overwhelmed by grief, turning back into a villain.

Wanda’s most recent appearance was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she acted as the main antagonist. In a dramatic final act, the Scarlet Witch collapsed a castle on herself and destroyed every copy of the Darkhold.

Fans have long hoped that Scarlet Witch might not be truly dead, given that it would take much more to eliminate one of the MCU’s most powerful characters. With several projects related to Wanda’s storyline in development, it’s clear that something significant is on the way.

Recently, Production Weekly revealed rumors of a solo movie for Wanda, reportedly set to begin production in 2026. Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito will serve as producers, with Jac Schaeffer, known for WandaVision and Agatha All Along, co-writing the script alongside Megan McDonnell. Elizabeth Olsen is confirmed to return to her role.

Olsen often discusses her future as Scarlet Witch, and while she hasn’t explicitly stated she’s uninterested in the character, her latest remarks suggest there might be more to the story. On The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Olsen was asked about her character’s status in the MCU. She assumed Wanda was dead but confirmed she was never explicitly told that her character was gone.

Olsen also expressed a desire to keep the possibility open, noting that she would love for Scarlet Witch to be alive, as she thoroughly enjoyed filming the movies.

Olsen: I would beg to leave a window open … I would like to [be alive]. […] Yeah I had so much fun doing these movies.
Kimmel: You don’t wanna be dead?
Olsen: Uh, no. But I would like to figure out how to cleverly be undead.

Olsen then confirmed that if the right writers are involved, anything is possible:

Kimmel: Well, if any character can figure out how to cleverly be undead it seems like Wanda would be the character to figure that out.

Olsen: I think so too. We need to find the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all makes sense.

With all the speculation about her potential return, it’s possible Olsen might be hinting at a role in Marvel Zombies. However, she may also be serious about returning to the MCU through other means. Rumors suggest that Scarlet Witch could appear in the upcoming Vision series. Additionally, with Agatha All Along set to release soon, many theorize that the Witches’ Road could be Wanda’s path to resurrection and a return to the MCU.
