Homelander Crashes Superman Screening — Antony Starr Says It’s a “Stud Move”
James Gunn’s new Superman film is finally out in theaters, and it’s already a big hit with fans. David Corenswet steps into the cape as Superman, and he’s joined by Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and Nathan Fillion. So far, the movie has made about $21 million just from early previews and has a 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a great sign.
But while people are enjoying the movie, something else has gone viral and taken the internet by surprise. During one of the screenings, a fan showed up dressed as Homelander, the superpowered villain from The Boys on Prime Video. The moment was caught on camera as the fan walked through the theater in full costume while the Superman movie was playing.

What really made the video blow up, though, was Antony Starr’s reaction. He plays Homelander in The Boys and shared the clip on his Instagram Stories. He had this to say: “This really needs to be an example to all. More people should turn up in rival costuming. It’s a stud move.”

For fans who know both characters, this was more than just a funny moment. Homelander is basically a twisted version of Superman. He has the same powers, flying, heat vision, super strength, but uses them for fear and control instead of saving people. He’s violent, selfish, and often terrifying, which is exactly what makes him such a scary contrast to Superman’s hopeful image.
Homelander’s design was actually made to be a dark take on both Superman and Captain America, which is why fans get such a kick out of seeing the two characters side by side, even if it’s just in a movie theater.
This isn’t the first time Starr has talked about a Homelander vs. Superman showdown. In a past interview, he joked about who would win in a fight. His answer? “Oh, really? Is that what he thinks? Here’s why Homelander would kick Superman’s ass. There’s no Kryptonite factor, and Homie would fight so dirty. He’s the [type to go], ‘Oh, you got me!’ as he goes down and then comes up and throws sand in your eyes. He’s a dirty dude, man. Whereas Superman is always like, ‘Oh, I wouldn’t do that. Oh, there’s innocent children that might get hurt.’ Homie’s going to human shield himself with the kids.”
It’s all part of the fun fans are having right now as both Superman and The Boys are getting a lot of attention. And clearly, even the actors are enjoying the chaos.
