Jack Quaid is one of the many fans praising the new Superman movie from DC Studios. As the film directed by James Gunn continues to perform well at the box office, Quaid, known for his roles in The Boys and Star Trek: Lower Decks, shared his excitement online. On Threads, he posted about the movie and gave a shoutout to David Corenswet, who plays Superman in the film.

Quaid said, “I absolutely loved SUPERMAN! Can’t think of the last time a movie gave me so much hope. They did the big blue boy scout proud. I laughed. I cried. People in the audience cheered! A CHEER?! In 2025?! Incredible!” He went on to say, “[David Corenswet], you ARE Superman. Period. You created a Supes who’s humanity shines through in every frame. It’s so incredible to watch you fly.” He signed off the post as “Sincerely, Anime Superman 🫡.”

Interestingly, Quaid once tried out for the live-action Superman role himself. Though he has voiced characters in projects like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and the animated series My Adventures with Superman, he wanted to play the character on screen as well.

In a recent interview, he revealed he sent in an audition tape but didn’t get very far. He explained, “I did, yeah. I think everybody did, if you kind of fit the bill. I didn’t get very far at all. I put myself on tape and it went nowhere and that’s totally fine, like that’s totally cool.”

Quaid admitted he doesn’t look like the classic image of Superman, which might have affected his chances. Still, he is happy with the casting of Corenswet. He said, “Specifically because I actually know David Corenswet a little bit. We did a pilot years ago that never went anywhere, but he’s one of those people you meet, ‘Oh yeah, like whenever you need another one, it’s probably gonna be you.’ That guy is Superman.”

Quaid also shared his feelings about the audition, “I remember getting that audition being like ‘yeah, sure, I’m the voice of Superman in a cartoon, but I don’t really think I fit the bill physically at all and that’s fine, that’s totally cool.”

Beyond the live-action film, fans of Quaid’s work can look forward to more of his voice acting in My Adventures with Superman, as the show has been renewed for a third season.

The producers shared that they got the green light for the third season in early 2024, and several episodes have already been written and recorded. Quaid even posted photos on social media from the studio where he’s recording his voice work for the new season.

Jack Quaid’s honest and supportive words about the new Superman film and his ongoing animated series work show how much he loves being part of the Superman world, even if it’s not in the live-action spotlight. His message also shows respect for his fellow actor David Corenswet and excitement for what’s coming next in both versions of the Superman story.
