Jenna Ortega is back as Wednesday Addams, and this time, she’s bringing even more dark charm to Nevermore Academy. Netflix previously revealed that Season 2 will arrive in two parts, with Part 1 dropping on August 6 and Part 2 following on September 3.

Fans can expect fresh drama, strange new enemies, and plenty of Wednesday’s trademark deadpan attitude.

Right now, Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton are traveling the world to promote the new season. During their stop in Paris, Netflix shared a stunning photo of the two with the caption: Jenna and Tim in Paris. (Look out, Emily). Before Paris, the cast also got together in London for the big Season 2 world premiere.

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, co-showrunners and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar teased what’s ahead. “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore,” they said.

This season, fans will see more of the Addams family. Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley all have bigger roles. Along with familiar faces, there will be brand new characters played by some big-name actors.

Creator Miles Millar hinted that Wednesday is in for some surprises. “Nothing is what it seems in Season 2. Wednesday goes into this season thinking she knows Nevermore. But as soon as she gets back, nothing happens that she’s expecting,” he said. “She thinks she’s going to be in control, that she knows where all the bodies are buried, and she doesn’t.”

Tim Burton, who directs and produces the show, pointed out that family life and school life will collide for Wednesday this year. “This year, we bring the family to Nevermore. Your family at school is the worst thing possible, isn’t it?” he joked in a Netflix featurette.

That means her younger brother Pugsley is moving in on her turf. Played by Isaac Ordonez, Pugsley now has to deal with school while trying to control his unusual power of electrokinesis. Burton said, “Poor Pugsley, he’s kind of an outcast among outcasts this season … Isaac did a really beautiful job of capturing the pathos of Pugsley.”

Ordonez added in the featurette, “He really wants to fit in, and he really wants a friend, but it’s not looking very good.”

So, get ready to return to the shadowy halls of Nevermore Academy. Wednesday is about to face new mysteries, unwanted family time, and plenty of supernatural trouble, starting August 6 on Netflix.
