James Gunn’s Superman is about to make the jump from theaters to home viewing, and Warner Bros. has revealed exactly when fans can get their hands on it. The movie will be available to rent or buy digitally starting August 15, with physical editions like 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD arriving on September 23.

The home release is loaded with extras that will make both casual viewers and hardcore Superman fans happy. There’s a full director’s commentary from Gunn himself, deleted scenes that didn’t make the final cut, a gag reel filled with on-set laughs, and nine featurettes exploring different parts of the story and characters.

The biggest addition is a full-hour documentary called Adventures in Making Superman, which dives deep into the process of bringing the film to life.

One of the special features that’s already getting attention is A New Era: DC Takes Off. This behind-the-scenes piece shows how Superman marks the start of a brand-new DC Universe across both movies and TV. Entertainment Weekly has even released an exclusive clip from the featurette, giving fans a sneak peek before the home release.

The footage features Gunn and DC Studios co-head Peter Safran talking about the vision for the DCU. Cast members David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced share what it’s like to be part of this huge step forward.

Corenswet says, “I think we’re making some really cool stuff that’s gonna be worth waiting for and worth getting hyped about. This is a new Superman, a new phase.”

Brosnahan adds, “The bar is high, pressure’s on, but this team is ready to rise to the challenge.”

Fillion puts it simply: “We’re at the forefront, on the front lines.”

With all the bonus content and the chance to see how the DCU is being built from the ground up, Superman’s home release looks like it’s going to be more than just a movie, it’s a full look at the beginning of a new era.
